The Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building, and in promoting Red Cross/Red Crescent ideals and principles.
Currently, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following combined position of its IHL programme and Humanitarian Diplomacy, supported by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), based at NHQ in Dhaka:

Organizational Context
BDRCS, recognized by ICRC and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), serves as the Secretariat for the Society. With 68 Units across Bangladesh, its mission is to prevent and reduce human suffering by providing effective and efficient services during emergencies and in normal times.
Job Purpose
You will be responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing communication programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products. This assignment requires to managing media relation, branding, develop materials, work closely with the International Relations (IR) department, etc. which incorporates customised approaches to effectively inform and engage stakeholders, (communities, partners, government, private sectors, partners, etc.), programme sectors and geographic locations, to facilitate collaboration in regular times and during emergencies. In addition, strengthen the ability of country teams, the regional platform and partners to work together in creating and delivering high-quality, impactful and influential communications. Your duties will be diverse and multi-faceted, therefore excellent professional skills are vital for this role.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all materials such as bulletins, newsletters, brochures, posters, etc

Strengthen the relation with electronic & press media for more engagements by building & managing relationships with media to reach national and international electronic and press media.

Work closely with the IR department to summarize various need-based documents, external communications, taking meeting minutes, etc.

Maintain and regularly update the BDRCS website.

Assist in content development to increase the social media platforms outreach & keep track & report on it.

Develop key messages and videos for all social media platforms.

Collecting & developing engaging stories of various calamities to disseminate on all platforms.

Arrangements of TV talk shows in corporation with the media.

Develop need-based speeches & scripts.

Identify early adopters among stakeholders and effectively encourage them to participate in communication interventions.

Perform “damage control” in cases of bad publicity.

Create a gallery for photo and videography.

Any other as directed by IR & Coms Director.
Position Requirements
Education
- Mass Communication and Journalism or bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field job experience. (Required)
Experience
- Five years of experience in communications in national or international organizations (Required)
- Proven experience in press releases, media relationship, and script writing. (Required)
- Experience in budgeting, monitoring and reporting in English (Required)
Knowledge and Skills
- Proven track record in media (electronic & press). (Required)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Performed “damage control” in cases of bad publicity.
- Demonstrated a high level of professionalism and an ability to work independently and in high-pressure situations under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills in oral & written (typing) in English (Required)
- Good communication skills in oral & written (typing) in Bengla .
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (Required)
Desirable Skills
- Experience in working with government officials, donors, and civil society organizations.
- Proficiency in public relations and corporate communication, with an understanding of various communication channels and their appropriate uses
- Familiarity with the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement’s principles, mandate, and operations
