Red Cross-Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971, is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable populace and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, Climate Change adaptation, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Salary Range BDT- 30,000.00 (Consolidated per month)
Age Limit 35 years maximum (Age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidates)
Duty Station Union level of Sirajganj/Bogura/Gaibandha/Kurigram district.
Job Purpose The Field Officer (FO) will be working closely with the UDMC and UP body to prepare the community for adapting with Climate Change through community resilience and having services as defined by the local Govt authority.
Under the direct supervision of BDRCS Project Officer, the Field Officer will be responsible for implementation, improvement, expansion and consolidation of the SRC supported project. The position will work also closely with project management team of BDRCS and SRC and maintain strong coordination with all stakeholders, LGIs, I/NGOs, UN agencies, etc.

Job Description / Responsibility-
Project Implementation and Progress Monitoring:

  • Ensure continuous monitoring, quality and timely implementation of all activities.
  • Plan and carry out the program with team members and volunteers, the tasks to improve WASH, DRR, Livelihood, Health, Nutrition and Natural Resource Management   support for char communities.
  • Ensuring all interventions are implemented, monitored and reported correctly to all key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring effective utilization of project budgets keeping the overall goal and objectives of the program.
  • Regularly visit the project areas, plan and monitor activities during implementation, expansion & consolidation phases of the entire length of the project.
  • Create a positive environment among the team members so that the multidimensional team can demonstrate their full potential.

Coordination:

  • Closely coordinate with all stakeholders and service providers to ensure complementary and synergy of services.
  • Maintain close coordination with SRC and BDRCS counterparts/teams.
  • Coordinate with LGI representatives, and contribute in coordination meetings
  • Coordinate, supervise and mentor all activities in the char communities and build sustainable linkages with all stakeholders including government agencies.
  • Liaise with LGI bodies, UN and I/NGOs & community groups.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare good quality reports and evidence-based documentation of project activities.
  • Develop IEC Materials, case studies with evidence and success stories.
  • Collect, collate and analyze data to ensure progress reports every month.
  • Support the program team, volunteers and mobilizers to effectively assess, design, monitor and report on project activities regularly.
  • Document success stories and case studies for sharing with BDRCS/SRC and other relevant stakeholders.

Teamwork:

  • Assist the team in ensuring and following the community engagement and accountability process and protection, gender and inclusion while implementing any activity.
  • Work closely with BDRCS-SRC team for assessment, project planning, implementation, supportive supervision, monitoring and reporting processes.

          
Leadership and Capacity Development:

  • Supervise volunteers and related staffs for quality implementation of project activities.
  • Provide regular technical support with guidelines and SOPs on project’s component.
  • Build capacity of volunteers and community groups as per project need.

Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.

Education requirements:     

Candidates having a Graduation or similar degree with background of working on WASH, DRR, Livelihood, Natural resource management and Health are encouraged to apply.

Experience requirements:

At least 2/3 years working experience in the field of DRR, health-nutrition, Livelihood and/or WASH-Sanitation. Working experience in the field of emergency response context is an advantage.

Skill requirements (in addition to the above-mentioned):

  • Applicants must be motivated self-starters and competent professionals.
  • Knowledge, training and facilitation skills on DRR, Livelihood, health, WASH, and Sanitation are a must.
  • Applicants must be skilled in leading and working in a multi-faceted team.
  • Applicants must be skilled in documentation and communication through quality narrative and numeric reporting.
  • Good computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel is a must.
  • Knowledge of digital data collection (e.g. Kobo) is an advantage.
  • Community mobilization experience will be considered as an asset.
  • Motor bike driving with a valid license is required for the position.
  • Candidate has to be mentally prepared for staying in char areas of mentioned districts.
