Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people over the last 53 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position:

Job title Sr. Health Officer

Monthly Salary Range Upto BDT. 75,000 (consolidated).
Age Limit 45 years (May be relaxed in case of potential candidate).
Reporting to Director, Health Department.
Duration of Contract                              Upto 31 December 2025.
Job Location Dhaka with frequent move to field.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement, supervision and monitors the activity of MCH center according to instruction of Director, Health.
  • maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
  • organizing preventative health programs according to instruction.
  • Assists building capacity of the staff as required.
  • Ensures the improvement of care for Communicable & Non-Communicable diseases, Nutritional screening, Psychological First Aid, and Emergency response such as disaster or outbreak of illness, epidemic & pandemics, and Prevention.
  • To ensure the health facilities like MCH center & Hospitals runs efficiently and makes the most of available resources.
  • To promote formal consultations and other engagement activities that will potentially have an impact on local health services as and when these arise.
  • Lead development of vision and goals and effectively communicate/engage practice staff.
  • Leads regular informational and participatory practice team meetings.
  • Conducts logistical tasks regarding training/workshops/Camp and so on.
  • Participates in the design or adjustment of training programs as required.
  • Analyses the effectiveness of the systems implemented and provide advice to improve/adapt to the local context.
  • Regularly participates in relevant Health meetings, as well as conducts meetings with IFRC & PNSs to better analyze health needs.
  • Monitors the stock of medical items and preparing orders accordingly in collaboration with the line manager.
  • Analyses data and contributes to written internal reporting and activity programming as part of institutional exercises relating to planning, and monitoring programs.
  • Prepares reports and statistics in a detailed and timely manner (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) for the supervisor.
  • Assures appropriate translation for delegates or other colleagues during field trips and meetings and ensuring relevant translation of documents and texts, as necessary.

 
Educational Requirements: 

  •  MBBS from any recognized medical college having registration with updated BMDC Certificate.
  •  Master’s in public health (MPH) will be given preference.
  •  At least 2 years working experience in public health background.

Competencies and Additional Requirements: 

The ideal candidate should have the following competencies: 

  • Strong practical experience in managing institutions related to Maternal & Child Health, programing, budgeting, planning & implementation.
  • Solid experience in managing programs or projects regarding Health in Dhaka and field level.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills. 
  • Have a background in health, public health professions.  
  • Preferably: in-depth understanding and/or experience of working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent movement. 
  • Monitoring, assess, review & overall management of health services including vaccination, availability of drugs & medical equipment.
  • Capacity to monitor.
  • Knowledge about reporting in Daily, Monthly & Quarterly.
  • Language Skills: Fluent Bangla and English (both spoken and written).
