Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 53 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position of Danish Red Cross supported programs at PMO, Cox`s Bazar:

Job Title : Finance Officer.

No. of position : 01 (One).

Job Nature : Contractual.

Duration of contract : Initially up to 31 December 2024 (with possibility of extension).

Salary range : BDT. 50,000/- (consolidated per month).

Age limit : 45 years (age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidate).

Reportable to : Finance Coordinator, PMO, Cox’s Bazar.

Duty station: Cox’s Bazar.

Position Summary:

The Finance Officer (FO) will be based in PMO, Cox’s Bazar and is expected to provide support to the Danish Red Cross supported program funds at Cox’s Bazar and proper utilization & management of the assets as appropriate. He/she will have to maintain and update all the relevant funds, documents, reports under the direct supervision of the Finance Coordinator and to maintain a good working relationship with PMO finance, Unit office & National Headquarters.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting transactions and books of account.
  • Review and check all relevant financial, logistic documents and ensure standard financial procedures for the Organization as well as for Donor.
  • Prepare budget forecasts considering set activities.
  • Maintain daily cash account, petty cash record, cash journal records and cash book data entry. Reconcile daily. cash statements and prepare bank reconciliation statement monthly basis if needed.
  • Comply with financial policies and regulations of donors, DRC and BDRCS.
  • Maintain accurate financial and asset records.
  • With assistance of the project team organize different events in the project areas and prepare relevant. supporting documents and submitting to the concerns accordingly.
  • Provide day-to-day admin and logistic support to project team.
  • Maintained attendance, collect requisition from colleagues and support accordingly.
  • Required to preserve all procurement records and financial records in accordance with the provision of the BDRCS and DRC guidelines.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by management.
  • To assist with the management of the funds and financial assets of the office (that include cash flow and cost control management as well as the management of the payments, advances, bank transaction and payroll functions, and maintenance of the accounting books/records/system all in accordance with BDRCS guidelines).
  • To assist with the compilation of the BDRCS budget and financial plan, under the direction of the Finance Officer
  • To maintain accurate registers of the assets and property in the field, and ensure that accurate office systems are in place and maintained.
  • To assist with the preparation of accurate, regular, and timely financial and narrative reports.
  • To monitor the budget and ensure accurate accounting, authorization & internal control procedures.  Investigate and address significant variances.
  • To assist with providing technical support and advice to staff members in financial and administrative systems.
  • To collect bill/ voucher and submit NHQ with monthly financial report within first week of the next month.
  • To perform any other duties assigned by the authority.

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Minimum Commerce Graduation.
  • Masters/ MBA/ BBA preferably in finance/ accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Person with additional experience on management of budgets; management of resources; monitoring; supervision and control; reporting; communication; networking; management of self; management of others.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced skills in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word-processing and accounting packages) and familiar with internet browsing.
  • Ability to use manual accounting systems.
  • Ability to prepare budgets, cash flow statements & financial plans.
  • Able to plan and work independently with minimum or no supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proven professionalism and ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in English.

Personal Qualities:

  • An understanding of the RC/RC movement is required.
  • Honest and high level of integrity.
  • Willing to work for vulnerable and people in need.
