As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

BDRCS in collaboration with the IFRC and other PNSs implementing the Population Movement Operation (PMO) in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The project covers Health, Shelter, WASH, DRR, Livelihood, Cash Assistance, Protection, Gender & Inclusion (PGI) and Psychosocial Supports to the FDMN and Host Community.

Purpose of the position:


The objective of this position is to closely monitor all CBHFA work and activities, also ensure proper reporting as per organizational and operational requirements and implement community health program to ensure that no one is left behind. To ensure coordination of community health outreach activities within the camps and surrounding host population. The CBHFA Officer will support the community health component of the IFRC funded CBHFA. His engagements will focus mainly on trainings, capacity building, data management and outreach and awareness raising activities in Upazila level of Cox’s Bazar District.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Closely collaborate with CBHFA Coordinator.
  • Organize inception and orientation for various stakeholders – UP Chairman, ward members, UP staff, community leaders, bazar committee, other personnel involved in emergency response, etc.
  • Support, organize and co-facilitate Training of Trainers (ToT) for selected BDRCS volunteers for dissemination of key messages in line with Sector and GoB guidelines to inform the communities about the prevention.
  • Coordinate and facilitate CBHFA trainings for volunteers and community members.
  • Coordinate and facilitate CBHFA project/programme activities and health promotion sessions.
  • Monitor programme implementation, budget utilization, and ensure regular reporting to supervisor and managers, and preparation of quarterly reports and donor reports as required.
  • Actively seek opportunities to expand the CBHFA program including planning to achieve the program’s sustainability into the future.
  • Work in close coordination with Branches in implementing CBHFA programme throughout BDRCS.
  • Build the capacity of local people and community to collectively engage local leaders on identified issues.
  • Ensure quality of regular training programs resulting from ToTs for Community Group members and volunteers, BDRCS volunteers etc.

  • To maintain good socio-professional relationships with national and international partners.
  • To attend training when required.
  • To attend team meetings and give qualitative inputs.
  • Be flexible in performing his/her duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services.
  • Strictly respect confidentiality of data, and property of beneficiaries and respect confidentiality regarding the content of clinical interviews, except when exchanging information with the medical team in charge and within a professional frame.
  • Documentation of all planned activities through pictures to be submitted in high quality with monthly reports.
  • Any other relevant tasks assigned by line manager.
Education   Required Preferred
Minimum Graduate in Economics/ Statistics/ Sociology/ Social Work/Public Health or relevant subjects.  
Experience Required  Preferred
Minimum Five years of experience in a similar position with National or International NGOs.  
Training and facilitation skills.  
Knowledge and Skills Required  Preferred
Capacity to communicate in Rohingya/Chittagonian language is required.  
Trained on CBHFA/Community Health intervention RCRC tools.  
Work as a team player and has flexibility in his/her work.  
He/she can work independently and innovatively to develop and implement supervision and training activities that help expand community participation.  
Experience working in humanitarian emergency settings is an asset.  
An understanding of and commitment to BDRCS and RCRC movement’s mission and values.  
Languages Required  Preferred
Fluent in spoken and written (Bangla & English)  
Good command of another IFRC official language.
