Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 51 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for suitable candidate for following position:

Job title : Officer, Audit.
Duration of contract : Upto 31 Dec 2023 (with possibility of extension).
Department : Internal Audit & Compliance.
Reportable To    : Director, Audit.
Salary Range : Up to BDT 50,000 (Monthly consolidated).
Age Limit : 40 years (age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidate).
Duty station : Dhaka.
Number of vacancy        : 01 (One).

Roles and Responsibility:

  • Check bill, vouchers, registers and all other related documents to ensure proper record keeping.
  • Gathering, analyzing and evaluating data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and BDRCS policies.
  • Pre - Audit / Post - Audit of all bill and Project expenses on regular basis.
  • Review and follow up the Internal Audit Schedule as set by Director - Audit
  • Evaluate, examine policies, procedures, and making recommendations that can assist in improving internal control system of BDRCS.
  • A regular visit to all units and prepare reports on Audit Findings.
  • Conduct surprise audit, investigation, operational audit, process audit, physical inventory counting, etc.
  • Prepare different audit reports with accuracy and match with audit objectives for the use of the top management.
  • Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  • Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans.
  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc.
  • Prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results and document process.
  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality, and goal achievement.
  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings.
  • Any other special task assigned by the Director - Audit.

Audit Follow up:

Auditing standards require a follow-up process to track and report on that status of Management Responses to audit recommendations and ensure that these have been effectively addressed. This includes:

  • Developing processes and procedures to maintain a database of outstanding audit recommendations to track and report on progress on their implementation.
  • Communicating effectively with responsible Centre Managers to determine the status of their action plans.
  • Developing and implementing a process to verify and analyze actions taken by management to respond to the recommendations of the audit report; and

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA/BBS) in Accounting, Master of Business Administration (MBA) in accounting.
  • CA (CC) is Mandatory.

Skills and abilities:

The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):

  • Accounts, Audit, Internal Audit, Tax (VAT/ Customs Duty/ Income Tax).
  • Proficiency in advance MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Browsing Internet etc.
  • Fluent in English and Bangla language with well typing skill.

Personal qualities:

  • Adhere to the 7 fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
  • Act at all times in accordance with the Code of Conduct and strong ethics with an ability to manage confidential data.
  • Listening skills; Cultural sensitivity; Flexibility & adaptability; Team player and gender sensitive.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and stay in the field.
  • Experience to work with a humanitarian response will be an added advantage.
  • Work experience within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement will be preferable.
