Red Cross - Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world.   Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government in the Disaster Management field, BDRCS provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for suitable Bangladeshi candidate for the following position of its Bhasanchar Operation:

Job title :    Camp Manager
Job Nature :    Contructual.
Position :    01 (One).
Duration of contract :    Initialy upto 31 December 2022 (with the possibility of extension).
Salary Range :    Up to BDT. 100,000/- (Monthly Consolidated).
Reporting to :    Coordinator, Bhasan Char Operation.
Age limit :    40 years (age limit will be relaxed in case of the potential candidate).
Duty station :    Bhasan Char, Hatiya Noakhali.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Contribute to work planning, budgeting, and ensuring activity implementation is undertaken on time and within laid budgets.
  • Ensure service mapping and site planning and infrastructure surveys are undertaken and information is updated on a regular basis.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, biweekly, and monthly situation reports as may be required by BDRCS and UNHCR.
  • Ensure continuous site monitoring and identify issues and gaps geared towards timely repairs and maintenance of infrastructure and coordinate with the Navy, CiC, and other service providers as necessary.
  • Keep track, Promote and Monitor the implementation of all the projects and activities covered under SMS, EPR, Shelter and Site Improvement, NFI, and Energy.
  • To undertake information dissemination and awareness-raising sessions within communities to ensure that they are well informed on services and providers including any new changes in camp management.
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with communities and other stakeholders.
  • To represent BDRCS in coordination and collaboration meetings and with the government, the UN, and other NGOs and agencies.
  • Undertake regular community needs assessments and ensure work plans are reviewed to capture and respond to the changing needs within communities.
  • To undertake budget planning, tracking, and updating to ensure that the budget is up to date at all times and corrective measures are taken when issues are raised regarding the budget.
  • To always collect information and remain updated on security issues and report to BDRCS management.
  • To contribute to the project’s M&E system and ensure that M&E activities are undertaken regularly and learning is fed into management for decision making.

Required Qualifications, Experiences, and Skills

  • Masters degree from any reputed university. It can be relaxed for experienced candidates.
  • At least 05 years of working experience of which a minimum of 02 years managerial/ senior level field experience in the relevant area, preferably in CXB or Bhasan Char Refugee operation.
  • Professional & technical experience matching the above-mentioned duties and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of refugee law. Good knowledge of Refugee and BDRCS programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the complexity related to refugee and IDP situations.
  • Relevant educational background and knowledge of the functions of the UN.
  • Experience in working in the Cox’s Bazar or Bhasan Char Operation will be an added advantage.
  • Language Proficiency in English is a must. The ability to speak in Rohingya or the local language will be an added advantage.
