VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Red Cross - Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government in the Disaster Management field, BDRCS provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position under Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Department for it’s Pilot Programmatic Partnership (PPP) Project funded by DG ECHO based in Dhaka:

Job Title : Communication and Reporting Officer
Post : 01 (One)
Department : Disaster Risk Management (DRM)
Reportable To : Director, DRM & PPP Project Coordinator
Contract length : 07 months up to 31 December 2022 (with possible extension based on project funding availability)
Job nature : Contractual
Salary Range      : Up to BDT 75,000 (Consolidated), other benefits as per organization policy.
Age : 40 years (Age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidate)
Duty Station : National Head Quarters (NHQ), Moghbazar, Dhaka with frequent field visit

Job purpose

The Communication and Reporting officer will ensure regular communication and reporting support to the project in line with the project proposal, project work plan, project budget and project implementation guideline under the direct supervision of Director, DRM department in line with BDRCS communication focal, and in close coordination with GRC, DRC and IFRC counterpart. S/he will also liaison with PPP Project Coordinator in a regular basis. The position will also be responsible for representing BDRCS in maintaining coordination with relevant stakeholders adhering the RCRC fundamental Principles and Humanitarian Code of Conduct during the implementation of PPP interventions in close coordination with Partner National Society counterpart. S/he is expected to maintain a respectful, courteous, accountable and transparent working relationship with all members of all sectors of BDRCS, CPP, IFRC and Partner National Societies (PNSs) offices with the highest standards of service and quality.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure that information and data from the field is captured, documented, analyzed and reported in a results-based and timely manner
  • Ensure effective communications, visibility and knowledge management
  • Develop, implement and monitor a project communication and visibility plan, facilitate better understanding among partners about project progress, and adhere to IFRC and ECHO guidelines on communications and visibility
  • Undertake filed visits to gather the information and results related to the project
  • Assist the all components of the programme in producing and documenting all kinds of programme related reports including visibility material
  • With input from the PPP monitoring and evaluation officer, provide support to produce high quality quarterly, six-monthly and annual progress reports
  • Provide high quality editing and formatting for all project related documents
  • Support project staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences and field visits as required
  • Provide relevant expert services to the project team, project components and technical partners on reporting and communications
  • Ensure the maintenance of sound filing system and appropriate use and recording of all project experience, activities and results;
  • Implement all reporting and communication work of the project
  • Draft, proofread and compile different documents as and when required by the project

Educational Qualification and requirements:

  • Master's in Mass Communications, Journalism, IR, Public Administration, English or relevant fields.
  • Seven years relevant working experience. S/he should have an extensive experience in communication and diffusion strategies and techniques, reporting, documentation, publication, and audio-visual material preparation in relation to conservation and development fields.
  • S/he should possess excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills in both English and Bangla.
  • S/he should be well versed in the latest electronic publishing and graphics methods.
  • S/he must be well versed in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Bangla (Bijoy) and English language typing.
  • S/he must be fluent in both spoken and written Bangla and English languages.
  • Competencies in communication, professional mastery, analytical skills, teamwork, ability to think strategically and able to communicate and negotiate with wide range of people and organizations.

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong organizational skills, methodological and logical approach to tasks and problem solving.
  • Excellent skills in all areas of English, especially writing, including strong drafting skills
  • Good presentation, facilitation and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to organize, analyses and synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Lateral relationships:

  • Establish and ensure effective working relationships with members in the team and supporting partners.
