Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 50 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

The society is recognized as a leading humanitarian organization which in the recent past has established strong footprints in ensuring resilience of vulnerable communities. BDRCS is a member of the IFRC network and as such is supported by numerous international partners organisations in its numerous endeavours. In line with its recent strategic plan 2021 – 2025, BDRCS is committed to attain financial sustainability and in this regard shall be venturing into innovative and evidence-based fundraising initiatives.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for suitable candidate for the following position of its fundraising department:

Salary Range Negotiable (Upto BDT 1,50,000/-).
Age Limit Minimum 35 years (Mandatory field).
Reportable to Director, Fund Raising Department
Duty station NHQ, Dhaka (With occasional travel within Bangladesh).

Job Purpose:

This position will play a key role in supporting BDRCS in their financial sustainability works. In particular, the resource mobilization manager will support market assessment together with an external partner followed by the development of business plans that are based on the outcomes / findings of comprehensive market assessment, increase individual and corporate fundraising, support the establishment of pooled financial reserves as well as increasing income recovered from the viable use of assets both at National Head Quarter (NHQ) and Branches.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Redefining fundraising scope and opportunities for BDRCS
  • Conduct or facilitate a mapping of BDRCS existing fundraising and resource development initiatives and priorities with proper cost-benefit analysis together with the local research and marketing agency
  • Conduct or facilitate a fund-raising market analysis for BDRCS, including analysis of income potential from corporate and individual giving
  • Identifying and defining fundraising opportunities and challenges in Bangladesh
  • Conduct or facilitate an updated mapping of BDRCS real estate assets at NHQ and branches including compliance with local legislation
  • Conduct or facilitate a market analysis of the commercial viability of the real estate assets and develop a business plan including clear analysis and reporting on business income generation
  • Guide and facilitate to prepare a plan for long-term and strategic capital investment to increase the commercial viability of its current assets and advise on future assets
  • Support to formulate a fund-raising strategy for BDRCS with participation of departments and branches and advise on effective fundraising tools and   instruments (Digital donation)
  • Prepare a comprehensive resource mobilization plan for five years based on the fund-raising strategy
  • Maximise corporate and individual fundraising
  • Prepare, maintain, and update potential corporate and individual fundraising entities
  • Identify ways to raise fund from the corporate and individuals in line with the resource mobilization strategy and plan
  • Coordinate the skills and interest from all movement partners to achieve the target on corporate and individual fund raising
  • Engage the senior management and governance to have meaningful communication and partnership building with corporates and individuals
  • Establish a culture of regular donor engagement, relation building, like – arranging fund raising dinner, festival targeted fundraising etc
  • Establish BDRCS brand ambassadors with celebrities (sports, music, media etc) to engage them in fund raising. These should be in line with the fund-raising strategy.
  • Accountability and partnership
  • Lead engagement with the other agencies with regards to business training and development as well linking BDRCS NHQ and branches to local business development training and support
  • Ensure full compliance with BDRCS and RCRC movement policies, procedures and accountability standards, including IFRC Principles of Cooperation in Resource Mobilisation, the IFRC core costing policy, the Corruption and anti-fraud policy and the Code of Conduct.

Education and experience:

  • Masters/ MBA in Marketing (Mandator field) from reputed University (IBA/ DU/ NSU/ BRAC will be given preference).
  • Minimum 10 years work experience (Mandator field) of which 05 years in a managerial position on Resource Mobilization/ Business Development in any reputed organization.
  • Working experience with INGO/ MNC’s/ Group of Companies will be preferred.
  • Good command on English and Bengali language.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge on Fundraising techniques and Fundraising instruments.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, report writing and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge on real estate market and utilization of unused lands/ resources.
  • Knowledge on direct marketing, agency (work/printing, online/ direct sales etc).
  • Ability to multi task and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines, identify priority activities and assignments, adjust priorities as required.
  • Excellent and proven computer skills – particularly MS Office and Excel, Email correspondence and network browsing.

Personal qualities:

  • Common understanding on Gender issues, CEA mechanism including other cross-cutting issues.
  • Experience to work with a humanitarian response will be an added advantage.
