Red Cross - Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 48 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position of its Myanmar Refugee Relief Operation (MRRO), Cox’s Bazar

Job Title : ICT Officer
No. of position : 01 (One).
Job Nature : Contractual
Reportable to : DD& In-Charge, MRRO.
Duration of contract : Initially upto 31 December 2020 (with possibility of extension).
Salary Range : Upto BDT. 60000/- (With other admissible benefit as per Organization/ project policy)
Age Limit : 35 years (age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidate).
Duty station : MRRO, Cox`s Bazar.

Purpose: Under the guidance and supervision of the In-charge/Coordinator the ICT Officer will be responsible for overall ICT support to Myanmar Refugee Relief Operation (MRRO) project of BDRCS. The position will work closely with project management team both NHQ and Cox’s Bazar. He/she will maintain strong coordination with ICT team and Director-DR of BDRCS and as well as Program Management of UNHCR.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the maintenance of ICT systems, including: general computer support; software installations; license management; network, printers, audio/video conferencing and mobile phone support; deployment of equipment; management of ICT inventories.
  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults and resolve accordingly.
  • Providing training/support to relevant staffs of program on computer basics & database management system.
  • Ensuring all equipment is in good working conditions at all times as to meet the ICT needs of the offices.
  • Support the procurement process for IT equipment and services.
  • Assists to data management & analytical analysis for produce report.
  • Having experience to work with ICT tools of KOBO, GDT and its operation for references.
  • disaster recovery; and periodic security vulnerability assessments.
  • Maintain effective working relationship with BDRCS and UNHCR counterparts
  • Maintain effective working relationships with other major humanitarian actors working for newly arrived population from the Rakahine state of Myanmar in Cox’s Bazar
  • Work closely with the communication with DR Department of BDRCS.
  • Perform duties upholding respect and adherence to the fundamental principles of International Red Cross and Crescent movement.
  • Frequently field visit if needed.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Organization.

Qualifications and Experience require:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience providing information communications technology (ICT) support in a development context.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of and experience with a variety of technologies, including, Microsoft Office 365, cloud-based storage systems, Windows OS, MS Office suites
  • Ability to data analysis, cleaning, shorting, filtering, queries and final reporting.
  • The candidate must have practical knowledge and experience on customising database software, hardware and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of LAN, VPN and Internet connectivity products (Hub, Switch, Router, Firewall) and their installation, configuration and cabling.
  • Must have experience of over phone support.
  • Must have knowledge of Operating system installation / troubleshoot.
  • Must have experience with Antivirus management
  • Must be very good in PC assemble and software management.
  • Experience working in an international humanitarian environment (preferred)
  • Experience within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (preferred)
  • Should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), Graphics Design.
  • Excellent communication skills both Bengali and English.
  • An active listener with demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong organizational skills, methodological and logical approach to tasks and problem solving
  • Good presentation, facilitation and note-taking skills
  • Ability to organize, analyse and synthesise large amounts of information
  • Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, functions, data cleaning)
