Job purpose

The Trainee will gain practical experience in digital content production and social media management. Under supervision, the trainee will support development of creative content for digital platforms and production processes and observe how media can engage audiences effectively. This is a learning opportunity designed to support the trainee develop technical, creative, and professional skills in a supportive environment while contributing to BBC Media Action’s activities.

Main duties and responsibilities-

  • Assist in creating and editing short-form digital content (videos, graphics, posts) for social media platforms.
  • Provide support to schedule and upload posts on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms.
  • Support the creative and production teams in pre-production and post-production tasks.
  • Observe and learn how engagement data is monitored and analyzed to inform content strategies.
  • Assist maintaining content calendars and supporting day-to-day digital operations.
  • Support coordination with suppliers, freelancers, and talent under supervision.
  • Learn about BBC Media Action’s editorial standards, safeguarding, and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in team meetings, workshops, and feedback sessions to enhance professional development.

Skills, knowledge, and experience requirements

Essential / Desirable
Recent graduate or early-career professional with interest in digital content production.

Bachelor’s degree in film, media, communication, journalism, or a related field.

Basic familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram).

Interest in digital storytelling and visual content creation.

Willingness to learn video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro) and graphic design tools (Photoshop and Illustrator).

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Good communication and time management skills.

The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
