Job purpose
Reporting to the Media Development Manager, this position will be accountable for planning and implementing various capacity-strengthening training sessions and will prepare necessary online and offline modules. Additionally, s/he will mentor the trainees to assist in devising and developing a range of audio/radio programmes of different formats. S/he will take responsibility for co-producing or developing packages and programmes, working closely with a team of dedicated professionals. S/he will be responsible for preparing detailed work plans with achievable timelines for each stage of the training and production process, including research and pre-production, maintenance of scheduling, learning management, and other systems, as well as arranging audio recording and post-production. S/he will collaborate across both the production and training teams to ensure the timely delivery of training and outputs within budget, adhering to BBC Media Action’s high creative standards and editorial requirements.
The position is based in Dhaka but requires extensive travel to the project locations across the country as necessary. Normal office hours will generally apply, but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working hours will be required.
Main Duties & responsibilities
- Plan and implement various capacity strengthening training courses in line with the project outcomes.
- Create and update online and offline training modules based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure effective participation of the trainees and follow-up on the learning process.
- Provide mentorship to participants and help them apply their learning to their work.
- Ensure day-to-day support for the trainees during the co-production phase.
- Coordinate Train-the-Trainer sessions and assist trainers to align training with established processes and project objectives.
- Leading the day-to-day processes for a portfolio working with key stakeholders to ensure learning and development delivery is as efficient and effective as possible.
- Plan, develop and set up new, key and priority processes, courses, events, costings, and projects; set standards for the department and for delivery with the wider team.
- Lead on the use and maintenance of the scheduling, learning management and other systems and processes to monitor spend and resources, ensuring accurate and timely recording of and reporting on data.
- Providing input and ideas to shape the format and structure of audio/ radio programmes.
- Researching, interviewing, and writing scripts for allocated radio/audio programmes as and when needed.
- Record, edit, mix, and deliver audio messages or packages and complete programmes for broadcast.
- Look for synergies and efficiencies in operations across the department, identifying opportunities for collaboration and finding creative solutions to ensure efficient use of resources and budget, reducing cost while meeting learning and development needs.
- Identify and share information and promote excellent communication between teams to ensure understanding of operations across the department.
- Take a proactive approach to the areas of responsibility, working with little direction from Managers on continuous improvement, problem-solving and the day-to-day running of the business.
- Support the Managers in meeting objectives set for the department, provide reports and analysis; completing ad hoc projects, events and tasks, as required.
The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
