Context

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media, and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health, and resilience.

Overall purpose:

We are looking for two presenters, preferably a male and a female, to anchor a series of outputs for social media aiming for the young people in Cox’s Bazar. Reporting to the Producer, Presenter/s will host the audio-visual programme targeted for host community people living in Cox’s Bazar. S/he will take interviews of contributors/subject experts in studio or in designated location with support from the production team members.

Main Duties & responsibilities:

  • To work as presenter in audio-visual outputs for social media in Cox’s Bazar.
  • To take interviews of contributors in Cox’s Bazar following the scripts
  • To take interviews of subject experts in studio or in designated location with support from the production team members
  • To translate and improvise the script if needed.
  • To be available for recordings at the studio as required and scheduled with Producer.
  • To be available for recordings at Rohingya Camps or any other location as required and scheduled with Producer.
  • To take directions and instructions from the Producer to ensure accuracy of delivery and style.
  • To confirm that the voice over or presentation is done in line with the instructions of the Producer.
  • To confirm the highest quality of Chittagongian/Cox's Bazar accent, this matches with the program, and which is easy to understand for the target audience.
  • To comply with the BBC editorial policy while performing.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the line manager

In general, normal office hours will apply but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.

Experience of working as a Presenter in audio-visual content.

Ability to understand and speak in Chittagonian dialect

The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
