Context

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. BBC Media Action in Bangladesh uses media and communications to improve family health, enable people to hold their leaders to account and to help people improve their economic security and preparedness for disaster. We support humanitarian agencies and actors to improve the way communications is used in disasters and humanitarian crisis all over the country including Rohingya Response in Cox’s Bazar. We are currently focusing on strengthening capacity of humanitarian actors in Rohingya response aiming to improve their community engagement skills through training and mentoring programmes and producing multi-media contents to support and improve community engagement and accountability across the response. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities and is focused on three key themes: governance and rights, health and resilience.

Overall purpose:

Working closely with the Project Manager, to coordinate the design and delivery of outreach activities for BBC Media Action in Cox’s Bazar both in Rohingya and host communities and ensuring that relationships with external stakeholders, NGOs, and other delivery partners are coordinated and maintained. The successful candidate will also need to work with BBC Media Action’s existing partners to ensure that the outputs are effectively disseminated to the communities.

Main Duties & responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain operational relationships with NGO and other outreach partners, ensuring that lines of communication and contact points with BBC Media Action are clear, partnerships are of mutual benefit and issues of concern are appropriately flagged.
  • Co-ordinate a multi-programme setting of outreach activities, ensuring that deliverables are on track, on time and to the required quality standard.
  • Closely working with project management, production and training and liaison team to design an outreach plan and implement effectively.
  • Provide timely and accurate forecasting and reporting information for outreach activities and deliverables to the Project Manager.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, research and other colleagues to ensure that research activities associated with outreach activities are effectively designed and embedded, as part of the research framework of the overall project.
  • Provide advice and support to the project team in negotiation and contracting processes with partner organisations.
  • Work closely with teams across BBC Media Action Bangladesh to ensure that communication with partners is planned, co-ordinated and effective.

This position is based in Cox’s Bazar but with frequent travel to partner organisations’ locations within Cox’s Bazar and beyond.  In general, normal office hours will apply but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.

The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
