Context:

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues; and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities and is focused on three key themes: governance and rights, health and resilience.

BBC Media Action is the lead partner in a new international consortium focusing on support to independent media through a project to be known as PRIMED (Protecting Independent Media for Effective Development). The project will work to strengthen independent media to produce trusted public-interest journalism and provide avenues for constructive public debate. The project will involve a range of activity in Bangladesh, as well as in other countries elsewhere in the world.

Overall Purpose:

BBC Media Action is looking for a highly motivated, creative, and an experienced Digital Content Producer for PRIMED project to provide capacity development and hands-on support to media professionals to create better digital content. The person has to support different media outlets, some out of Dhaka, and provide on-job training to professionals working in digital teams in print, online and televisions. The person  should be accustomed to modern tools and technics to create innovative outputs and provide day-to-day training and mentoring to different teams across different platforms.  

Main Duties & responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with PRIMED project colleagues on day-to-day project activities, especially on digital media content production where needed;
  • Conduct training courses on skills and tools for creating better digital content;
  • Creating and producing storyboards, visuals, and designs to present and discussing with team members;
  • Editing raw video footage and add effects/elements to enhance motion graphics;
  • Regular communication with the content makers from different media houses and on-demand support;
  • Coach and provide technical and digital content support using remote and in-person modality;
  • Support in customising digital content for both website and social media platforms;
  • Assist content creators in core production and device operations;
  • Monitor, analyse and report on the performance of digital channels/activities using tools like Google Analytics, feeding back to media practitioners;
  • Contribute producing digital strategy plans for different houses in multi-platforms
  • Work closely with line manager and team members to ensure deadlines and project deliverables met.
  • Carry out any task/assignment bestowed by the line/task manager.

Essential / Desirable
Strong understanding of Bangladesh digital audience and their media behaviour

Proven experience (at least three to five years) in digital media content production.

Strong understanding of the production system and challenges of Bangladeshi media houses (TV, print)

Proven knowledge and skills in using modern tools and technics producing high quality digital content

Excellent skills to facilitate training and mentoring session, especially with media organisations.

Sound knowledge and understanding of media digital platforms and format of digital content.

Strong experience in image, audio and video editing for a wide variety of digital content platforms – websites, blogs, videos, mobile, social media, and more.

An appetite for emerging innovations in designing media and digital content production.

Understand and comply with BBC Media Action’s Safeguarding policy and the staff Code of Conduct.

Strong understanding of and commitment to BBC editorial values.

The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct.
