Context:

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.

We support humanitarian agencies and actors to improve the way communications is used in disasters and humanitarian crisis all over the country including Rohingya Response in Cox’s Bazar. We are currently focusing on strengthening capacity of humanitarian actors in Rohingya response aiming to improve their community engagement skills through training and mentoring programmes and producing multi-media contents to support and improve community engagement and accountability across the response. Now we are seeking proactive training coordinator to ensure high standard delivery of existing commitments and to support the team for effective implementation of training and outreach activities of Rohingya emergency projects.

Overall purpose:

The Training Coordinator will work closely with the training team and other colleagues from project, research and production teams to coordinate effective delivery of training to humanitarian staff, volunteers, community leaders, CBOs and individual community members across the response. S/he will organise the smooth training and mentoring operation from the monitoring and logistics point of view. S/he will also be liaising with partner agencies and individual training and mentoring participants for day to day support. The Training Coordinator will work closely with the team to make sure that the administrative and logistics compliances are well maintained.

Job description:

  • Work closely with training team to keep track of key needs of partners, both in terms of organisational capacity and the use of multimedia contents and communication skills at different levels.
  • Provide day to day administrative and logistics support to the training and liaison team to make sure that the deliverables are on track.
  • Communicate with internal and external training participants, trainer and relevant focal personnel in connection with project output and organising training
  • Good understating and operational capacity about online base training and organise them as per requirement
  • Maintaining training database, analysis them for making different reports as per requirement
  • Work closely with line manager to prepare monitoring and narrative reports
  • Support the coordination of outreach and training activities, ensuring that deliverables are on track, on time and to the required quality standard
  • Work closely with the training team to provide community insights to make sure that community preferences are considered with highest priority.
  • Ensure BBC Media Action safeguarding policies, code of conduct and compliances are maintained when supporting the delivery of training and mentoring activities with vulnerable participants.

Skills, knowledge and experience requirements:

Experience of a range of administrative work, with a demonstrable ability to co-ordinate and drive administrative processes in a humanitarian setting

Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships at a range of levels

Understanding and experience of administrative and financial compliance in a humanitarian and/ or development setting

Specialised knowledge and experience in one or more of: partnership management, safeguarding; monitoring & evaluation; community engagement; accountability

Excellent knowledge and experience about data management and partnership and resource mapping

Strong understanding of rights and gender norms within humanitarian and displacement contexts.

Excellent Chittgonian and/or Rohingya language skills (spoken).

Excellent Bangla and English language skills (written and spoken).

Functional IT skills, including Microsoft Office (advance in excel, word, access and powerpoint)

Good organisational and time management skills, with the proven ability to priorities, work independently and maintain attention to detail.

The position is based in Cox’s Bazar with travel to Rohingya camps and training locations across Cox’s Bazar as necessary. In general, normal office hours will apply but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.

The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. A police background check may form part of the recruitment process. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy concerning all forms of abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people.
