| Position : People and Culture Officer |

| Working days / hours : 37.5 hours per week |
I. Main duties and responsibilities
Job summary: The People and Culture (P&C) Officer plays a key operational role in ensuring the effective and compliant delivery of P&C services within the Bangladesh Country Office. Reporting to the Director of Finance, Grants, and Administration, the position focuses on implementing HR processes across the entire employee lifecycle. The Officer ensures that all HR operations and practices align with The Asia Foundation (TAF)’s policies and initiatives, local labor laws, and the organization’s values and culture, fostering a positive employee experience and supporting a well-functioning Country Office. |
| 1. Support the development and implementation of the annual HR and People plan for TAF Bangladesh, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, the People and Culture Unit’s strategy, and the growth and objectives of the Country Office. |
| 2. Implement day-to-day P&C activities, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning, offboarding, HR policy compliance, data management, and reporting. Ensure all HR operations are executed with accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism, and commit to the consistent, timely, and compliant delivery of HR administrative services by applying established policies and procedures. |
| 3. Participate in and provide support for global People and Culture projects as needed. Contribute to and ensure alignment with global People and Culture initiatives, as required. |
| 4. Serve as an Employee Advocate to promote a positive organizational culture that reflects the organization's values, fosters employee engagement, and supports leadership in enhancing the overall employee experience. |
| 5. Assist Program and Project Leaders and Managers on people-related matters. Work collaboratively across the program teams and serve as a point of contact for employees on People and Culture issues, under the supervision and guidance of the Manager. |
| 6. Engage regularly with the Regional People Partner to stay informed and proactively share feedback that supports the development of global People and Culture initiatives addressing country-level issues. Leverage the Regional People Partner as a functional resource and escalate matters as needed to ensure timely resolution. |
| 7. Build and maintain regular contact with local networks and vendors in the local market. Share updates on emerging trends and best practices in people and culture to improve local HR practices. |
| 8. Support effective communication of changes or updates on People and Culture-related topics to relevant stakeholders in TAF Bangladesh. |
| II. Qualifications |
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or professional HR certification is an advantage.

Work experience :
- Minimum of three to five years of relevant HR operations experience, preferably in the international development, non-profit or corporate sectors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Bangladesh labor laws and HR best practices.
- Practical experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.

Skills :
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
- High degree of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, service minded.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems (HRIS).
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
