Senior Program Officer

The Asia Foundation (TAF) is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia. TAF invites applications from eligible candidates for the above post in the project named “Community-Driven Approach to Promoting Religious Equality and Access to Justice” in Bangladesh. The goal of this project is to support equal protection for religious minorities in Bangladesh by reducing inter-communal tensions and inequalities among religious communities. The position will be a crucial part of the program management team, reporting to the Director, Program at the Dhaka office. This position requires frequent field visits to the Rangpur field office.

Position Title: Senior Program Officer

Number of Position: 01

Duration of contract: 1 year, renewable

Duty Station: Country office-Dhaka, Bangladesh

Reporting to: Director, Program

Responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of the Program Director of the above-mentioned Project, the position holder will support the implementation and monitoring of activities at a field level.

The main duties include;

  • Provide support in project management and activity implementation, coordinating the TAF's field office with the activities of local partners, financial and administrative oversight, reporting, and project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide support to the program team in compiling reports (bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly), indicator-based reporting, and analysis of trends and achievements in time in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Collect information from local partners and ensure that data and information are correct and accurate.
  • Keep track of all activity developments in order to prepare appropriate reports, briefings, background notes, and other documentation as required by the project.
  • Organize dialogues, meetings, workshops, seminars, and other outreach programs with key stakeholders, as well as facilitate training on various programs on a timely basis.
  • Consolidate and analyze data on program implementation and indicators (e.g. threat monitoring database) to facilitate the preparation of periodic reports.
  • Review partners’ monthly narrative and financial reports and share feedback.
  • Archive TAF’s and partner’s relevant documents including reports, work plans, minutes, guidance notes, photos, videos, etc. in SharePoint.
  • Organize regular field visits for project monitoring and feedback.
  • Perform any other responsibilities/duties assigned by the Program Director or the program team.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed.
  • Creative and analytical thinking ability, multitasking, team spirit, and the attitude to deliver results in a timely manner.
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency; is self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Good verbal presentation, group dynamics, and facilitation skills.
  • Proactive approach to resolving problems and issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Development Study, Journalism, or other social science disciplines.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in program management, program/project development, and knowledge-management-related work in the development sector.
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of various editing software and platforms
  • Fluency in written and spoken Bangla and English.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing programmatic and financial reporting requirements.
