Position: Business Development Manager/Coordinator

Context, Stakes, Direction mission


Apon strives for better health and wellbeing of low income workers through operating specialized discount shops which not only ensures access to quality and affordable health-nutrition products and services for workers and increases their real income but also minimizes workers health expenditure through cash less health insurance coverage.

Currently Apon is serving Aprox. 50,000 workers through its 9 outlets.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities


Responsibility # 1: proposal development, relationship and reporting

  • Identify opportunity, write and develop proposals and meet target in revenue generation for business development unit.
  • Maintain liaison with different units/components and counterparts for proper competitive and strategic information gaining and guide the CEO in strategic decision making. Maintaining personal networks; lesion with key players and collaborate with possible professional organizations
  • Ensure Process and policy documentation and regular update to ensure company standards in all areas of company activities.

Responsibility # 2: Communication, Branding and marketing 

  • Develop an extensive internal and external communications plan and implement timely communications to increase knowledge about Apon and uphold company image.
  • Identify cost effective and innovative communication tools, methods and avenues for information dissemination and to increase/attain new clients
  • Develop coherent and successful story of Apon services, build and develop marketing and business promotion tools and messages for all the service areas of Apon.
  • Plan, develop and implement different brand and marketing materials for Apon as well as for different successful and ongoing projects.

Responsibility # 3: research and development activities

  • Work with each and every revenue departments to support develop new products and services.
  • Develop and implement growth related research plans, pilot new ideas and innovate new models for ensuring company long term growth and expansion.

Job Requirements/Job Specification (Managerial and Functional Competencies)


  • Education – Bachelor or Masters in Business, Business back ground preferable.
  • Know-how—Minimum 8-10 years’ experience & min. 5 years in leadership position in Sales/marketing/distribution/Business development/outsourced rural operation in agency.
  • Results oriented & target driven.
  • Good team mgt. skills and ability to build and deliver a motivated and performing team
  • Good project mgt. skills.
  • DOER/Hands on.
  • Good in follow up & monitoring, attentive to details
  • Good analytical ability, Good skills in MS Excel.
  • OPEN.
  • Believes in social mission/woman empowerment.

Travel requirements

Based in H/Q & 30% time on the field.
