B. ABOUT ANANDO

ANANDO is a national, non-government, non-profit, non-political and voluntary development organization that came into existence as “ANANDO” in 1996 and afterwards registered with the Directorate of Social Services and NGO Affairs Bureau in August 1997.  The goal of ANANDO is the reduction of poverty by addressing sustainable livelihood development, women empowerment, climate change, water and sanitation, skill development promotion of enterprise, and peacebuilding. The purpose of ANANDO is to serve the extremely vulnerable communities and people at risk by reducing their vulnerability and suffering and promoting their sustainable socioeconomic development.

ANANDO’s programs are being implemented in 8 districts (Tangail, Cox’s Bazer, Khagrachari, Gazipur, Jamalpur, Rangamati, Satkhira, and Chittagong) through 21 Projects/Branch Offices of which 16 offices are own establishment. Its current development partners include USAID, Welthungerhilfe – BMZ, GFFO, Germany, Licht Brucke – BMZ, Germany, GIZ, Department of Women Affairs (GOB), Bureau of Non-Formal Education ( GOB),  Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP), and PKSF.  

C. ABOUT THE PROJECT

This donor funded project implemented by ANANDO aims to enhance peaceful coexistence and socio-economic resilience among Rohingya refugees and host communities in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. Running from November 2025 to May 2029, the project targets 1,500 households (7,500 individuals) through integrated interventions in climate-resilient agriculture, vocational skills development, nutrition, gender equality, and peacebuilding. Key objectives include increasing livelihood opportunities, reducing gender-based violence and social conflicts, and promoting sustainable social cohesion.

D. ROLE PURPOSE

The Coordinator for Training and Peace Education will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing all training and peace education components of the project. S/he will develop and deliver modules on conflict resolution, peacebuilding, gender equality, and social cohesion, ensuring alignment with project outcomes and donor requirements. The coordinator will also build the capacity of project staff, community groups, and stakeholders to promote sustainable peace and resilience within refugee and host communities.

E. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Training Design & Development

  • Develop comprehensive training modules, manuals, and materials on peace education, conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation, communication, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, and human rights.
  • Adapt and contextualize training content to suit the needs of Rohingya refugees and host communities, ensuring cultural and conflict sensitivity.
  • Create tools and guides for community-based peace groups, Family Peace Counselors (FPCs), schoolteachers, and project staff.

2. Training Delivery & Capacity Building

  • Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and ToT (Training of Trainers) for project staff, community volunteers, peace group members, schoolteachers, and local stakeholders.
  • Conduct peace education sessions in schools using the “Peace Time Module” for students aged 12–15.
  • Build the capacity of women’s peace groups, Climate Smart Women Groups (CSWGs), and Family Peace Counselors in leadership, advocacy, and conflict resolution.

3. Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion Activities

  • Plan and implement community-based peacebuilding activities, including street dramas, pot songs, cultural programs, sports events, and Peace Fairs.
  • Support the formation and strengthening of 60 community-based Women Peace Groups and ensure their active engagement in conflict mitigation and social harmony.
  • Coordinate with Family Peace Counselors (FPCs) to facilitate door-to-door counseling and community-level dispute resolution.

3. Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training and peace education activities through field visits, feedback sessions, and data collection.
  • Document success stories, case studies, lessons learned, and best practices for reporting and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare periodic reports on training outcomes, participant progress, and peacebuilding impacts for project management and donors.

4. Coordination & Networking

  • Liaise with local government authorities, Camp-in-Charge (CiC), NGOs, UN agencies, and community leaders to ensure alignment and collaboration in peacebuilding efforts.
  • Represent ANANDO in relevant sectoral meetings, coordination forums, and advocacy platforms related to peace, gender, and refugee response.
  • Establish and maintain referral mechanisms for GBV cases and conflict resolution services.

5. Gender & Inclusion Mainstreaming

  • Ensure all training and peace education activities are gender-responsive, inclusive, and accessible to people with disabilities and marginalized groups.
  • Promote women’s participation in peace processes, decision-making, and leadership roles within communities.

F. Qualifications & Skills

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, Gender Studies, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in training, peace education, conflict resolution, or community-based peacebuilding, preferably in NGO/INGO settings.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training modules on peace, gender, GBV prevention, and social cohesion.
  • Prior work in refugee/host community contexts, especially in Cox’s Bazar or similar humanitarian settings, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with BMZ, EU or other donor-funded projects is an advantage.
  • Age limit 25 – 40 years

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of participatory training methodologies, adult learning principles, and community mobilization.
  • Familiarity with conflict-sensitive programming, “Do No Harm” approaches, and gender-responsive frameworks.
  • Ability to develop training materials, facilitation guides, and monitoring tools in both English and Bengali.

Management & Communication Skills:

  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bengali.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and under pressure.

  • High integrity, ethical standards, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Cox’s Bazar and work in camp and host community settings.
