About Association for Land Reform and Development (ALRD)

ALRD is a single-focused right-based independent National Policy Advocacy and Networking Organization. It was established in January 1991 to promote and strengthen land rights and agrarian reform in Bangladesh. Over the years, it has been working to promote and strengthen agrarian reform and the land rights of rural landless women and men, religious monitories, and indigenous peoples. 

It envisages “a democratic, secular, pluralistic and inclusive Bangladesh free of discrimination that promotes sustainable development for all its citizens and where equality in exercising rights, use and control over land and other natural resources for all is realized.” 

Assistant Programme Coordinator (Reporting and Communication), a senior position of ALRD, will be responsible for comprehensive reporting, communication, and documentation and demonstrate the organizational credits to wider audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities
Functional Competencies:
  • Ensure that information and data from the field are captured, documented, analyzed, and reported in a results-based and timely manner;
  • Produce high-quality quarterly, six-monthly and annual programme progress reports for donors and relevant stakeholders of ALRD particularly in English;
  • Develop, implement and monitor a project/programme communication and visibility plan, facilitate better understanding among networking partners about programme progress,
  • Provide thorough progress reporting continuous analysis of the achievements, facilitate project review, evaluation, and audits;
  • Undertake field visits to gather the information and results related to the programme;
  • Assist all components of the programme in producing and documenting all kinds of programme related reports, including visibility material;
  • Provide high-quality editing and formatting for all programme-related documents;
  • Support programme/project staff in organizing and managing seminars, workshops, press conferences, and field visits as required;
  • Prepare and edit press releases, programme related progress reports, and documents, including case stories and content for website in time;
  • Provide relevant expert services to the project management unit, programme components, and implementing and networking partners on reporting and communications and act as a facilitator;
  • Implement all reporting and communication work of the programme
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the higher authority.
  • Sound understanding on land governance, climate change, and CSOs movements,
  • Knowledge on land and human rights of disadvantaged and marginalized communities including rural smallholders, women, religious minorities, and indigenous peoples,
  • Competencies on lobby, policy advocacy, campaign, networking, and programme;
  • Remain open to change and ability to manage complexity;
  • Ability to work and act under pressure and with discretion in a politically sensitive environment;
  • Demonstrate capacity to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks on time to meet goals in a high-pressure environment;
  • Respect and sensitivity towards cultural, gender, ethnicity, and religious diversity;
  • Ability to work individually and in a team.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Other Competencies:

Education: 

  • Master’s degree preferably in social science, journalism, mass communication, or any other relevant subject with honours from any recognized/reputed university. At least one first class and two second class are required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in the development /NGO sector, preferably in land and human rights and governance issues;
  • S/he should have an extensive experience in communication and strategies and techniques, reporting, documentation, publication, and audio-visual material preparation about development fields;
  • S/he should possess excellent writing, editing, and speaking skills in both English and Bengali;
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools;

Computer Skills:

  • S/he must be well versed in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and typing skills in both English and Bengali.

Language:

  • S/he must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Bengali languages.

  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, indigenous, and age sensitivity and adaptability;

Salary and Benefits
Job Location
  • An enabling and supportive work environment;
  • Competitive compensation and total benefit package for the position will be between Tk. 80,000 and Tk. 90,000 per month and two festival allowance equivalents to one month Gross Salary.
  • Six-month probationary period is compulsory for the position.
  • The job is based in Dhaka but with regular travel to the partners and project’s areas as required.
  • Monthly field visits are required for 10-15 days on average,
