Payroll Officer, Agami EdTech
Location: Dhaka; upto 30% in the field
Time Commitment: Full time
Ideal Start Date: November 2022
Contract Duration: 8 months with possibility of extension
Salary Range: 22,000-28,000 BDT (Negotiable)
Organization Profile:
Agami (www.agami.org) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to promote education for the underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Agami was founded in the USA in 2003, and Agami Education Foundation is a sister organization with offices in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Agami works with primary and high schools across Bangladesh. In addition to providing basic support to ensure an academically enriching and welcoming environment in these schools, Agami firmly believes in bringing the latest innovations in education technology to the underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Agami’s EdTech Program as described below is one such key initiative.
Program Profile:
Agami launched its first EdTech intervention in 2011, with the goal of bringing the much-acclaimed Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) educational videos and other resources to the underprivileged students in Bangladesh. In March 2016, the Khan Academy Bangla website (bn.khanacademy.org) was launched with support from Grameenphone. We continued developing our own videos, exercises and other educational content. In partnership with Learning Equality (www.learningequality.org), we are introducing their offline education platform called Kolibri with our developed content to schools across Bangladesh. Additionally, we are building partnerships with bodies like UNICEF, World Bank, A2i, BRAC to contribute to the national effort to develop the competency level of our students and teachers.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join our EdTech team as full-time contractual staff of Agami Education Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The primary responsibility of these positions will be to support the recording of financial activities and logistics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions for various projects under Agami EdTech
- Defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
- Preparing financial reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing accounting for information
- Ensuring compliance with state and local legal requirements
- Advising management on compliance needs
- Assisting in financial activities such as running payroll and generating invoices
- Maintaining a record of all assets and equipments used in different activities
- Assisting in maintaining a record of HR related documents
- Build awareness throughout the country about Agami Edtech Platform and encourage stakeholders to use it
- Participate in various activities that may be required to fulfill the objectives of the program and the organization
- Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly reports based on project needs
- Assist in various educational projects and initiatives undertaken by Agami, as needed.
- Develop and maintain consistent, clear and timely communications and reporting for all activities, issues and updates with the relevant executive in Bangladesh and USA offices of Agami
Qualifications & Other Details:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline
- Previous bookkeeping experience preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
