Job Summary
This position will be working closely with project team in Khagrachari,Nowakhali and Feni districts with an aim to improve the Eastern flood affected women’s mental health wellbeing and psychosocial conditions. Supporting the OCC team, Community based health facilities, DWA office by providing guidance regarding mental health counselling and capacity building for the implementation of qualitative psychosocial care and mental health activities Supporting the field team by providing guidance and capacity building for the implementation of qualitative psychosocial care and mental health activities. Assisting the case worker in the identification of women and girls in need of specific psychological counselling and ensuring individual or group support for identified women.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to)
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall provision of GBV social case management services and community based, focused and specialized psychosocial support to women and adolescents’ girls following UNFPA developed guidance notes, IASC GBV CM guideline and UNFPA MHPSS guideline.
- Ensure that the case management is performed in a survivor centered and confidential way with the survivor of GBV and child marriage to provide and facilitate safe disclosure, assessment and complete referral to multisectoral service points/centers.
- Maintain regular communication and coordination with Upazila or district level service providers like police, health, social services, CSO/WLO, Youth led Organization/ leaders and other relevant entities to facilitate coordinated care and timely service.
- Assess survivors’ psychological conditions and develop action plans using UNFPA and IASC tools to help survivors to return to normal life.
- Regularly update service directory/ referral pathways to disseminate information and GBV referral pathway document among at least 5000 women and 1000 adolescents’ girls in each upazila/ districts.
- Conduct community outreach sessions/ group psychological sessions to build awareness and service seeking behavior among women and adolescents’ girls.
- Collaborate with regional Psychiatric or remote Psychiatric service providers to complete referral for survivor with high risk of suicidal tendency and need specialized support.
- Facilitate session on MHPSS/PFA topics for WLOs, Government service providers and community-based groups etc.
- Develop and deliver stress management and self-care sessions for flood impacted women and girls from Feni, Noakhali and Khagrachari districts.
Relationships
She will be directly reportable to the Project Manager.
Required Educational Qualification and Experience
- Graduate Degree in Psychology from any recognized University with expertise and experience Mental Health and Psychosocial Support field.
- Minimum 1-2 year of working experience in MHPSS areas, and experience to work with community people specially with women.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in local language will be an advantage.
- Training facilitation skills.
- Experience working with non-governmental organizations or with local government authorities.
- Able to take decision in a timely manner, prioritize and multi-task seamlessly.
- Orientation to gender sensitivity.
- Ability to work under extreme pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Team player with strong experience in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environments.
