Job Summary
The coordinator - Sports for Protection will oversee and coordinate the implementation of Sports for Protection, Social Cohesion, and Inclusion activities under the supervision of Project Manager, Sustainable Solutions and Protection for the Rohingya Community in Camps (Community Based Protection) project in Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhia and Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. This role will involve supporting in strategic planning, resource management, team leadership, and coordination with camp level stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of sports-based programs. The coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating project outcomes and providing regular updates to the project manager.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to)
Planning and Coordination
- Prepare implementation plan for Sports for Protection, Social Cohesion, and Inclusion activities for the assigned camps in participation with project team and project manager.
- Lead team for sports field, sports club, sports event and store operation activities. Visit the activities, extend technical support, demonstrate quality implementation, and guide team members.
- Support team members in community engagement for sports, like coordination, cooperation with existing sports groups, sports field caretakers, youth groups and players.
- Coordinate with camp authorities, UNHCR, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure community participation, resources and establish linkage.
- Develop detailed work plans and timelines for project activities, ensuring alignment with sports for protection goals.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes under CBP project plan.
Team Management and Supervision
- Coordinate designed training and supervise a team of Officers - Sports for Protection to ensure effective implementation of project activities.
- Work with team for sports event arrangement, implementation and management.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, addressing any challenges or questions.
- Evaluate team performance and provide feedback for professional development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration under the guidance of Project Manager.
Resource Management
- Review materials request, submit to budget-holder and support to efficient allocation of resources.
- Support to procurement of necessary equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Monitor and track camp level project expenses to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent ActionAid Bangladesh in meetings with camp authorities, Sport for Protection wing, UNHCR, and other relevant camp level.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, sports clubs, and youth organizations.
- Advocate for the importance of sports-based programs in promoting social cohesion and protection under the guidance of Project Manager
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Support in development and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project outcomes as per guidance.
- Conduct process monitoring of sports field, sports club, stores and sports events.
- Collect data on participant engagement, program impact, and challenges.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress, including key findings and recommendations, and submit to UNHCR as guidance.
- Ensure that all reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
Relationships
The coordinator - Sports for Protection will be directly reportable to the Project Manager.
Required Educational Qualification and Experience
- Honor's degree in sports management, disaster management, social science, international development, or a related field
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience working in sports development, community engagement, or humanitarian settings.
- Proven experience in managing teams and projects.
- Experience working with refugees or marginalized populations is preferred
- For those with substantial experience in the relevant field, academic qualifications may be relaxed under consideration.
Technical Skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze data and prepare clear and concise reports.
- Fluency in English and Bengali is essential. Knowledge of local languages or dialects is an advantage
