Job Summary:
The position of Associate Officer - Sponsorship is responsible for contributing to smooth fundraising for ActionAid Bangladesh primarily focusing on planning, monitoring, and producing quality reports like Community Voice Content (CV), Progress Reports (PR), Community Newsletters, Case Studies, Next Step (NS), Impact and Output stories for Girl's Supporter and others. This position also needs to work in database management of SK-related requirements of respective LRPs with the following appropriate updates. In addition, organizing capacity-building training, coordinating girl supporter activities, and management of complaints and queries are some focused areas of this position. To achieve the more significant objective of the program, taking part in emergency support work, ensuring the child's meaningful participation, and digitalizing community journalist group activities are also essential functions of this role.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Reporting Communication:
- Produce community voice content, soft stories, facts & figures, gift fund, case studies, and phase-out reports for the funding affiliates of Greece, Italy, and the UK.
- Coordinate Next Step reporting with the UK and girl supporter reporting with Sweden following the required communication plan.
- Ensure quality checking and timely submission of CS reports, and help increase the capacity of team members with effective feedback.
Database Management
- Collection and servicing child message (CM) and correspondence acknowledgment with quality information and ensuring all compliance of child sponsorship.
- Coordinate and facilitate the complaints and query (C&Q) process in order to ensure that all C&Q is managed to focus on improving the supporter experience.
- Open the child profile in the database and keep track of photo updates with follow-up activities of supporter communication.
Capacity Building Initiative
- Identify training needs and organize staff capacity-building training by coordinating with related people and departments.
- Arrange community-level training for community participants especially children to fulfill the objective of the child sponsorship program.
- Conduct sessions in training, meetings, and undertake community visits to strengthen field-level child sponsorship programs.
Monitoring and Community Development Initiative
- Plan child-focused events and implement them at the community level ensuring child safeguarding.
- Respond to child violence cases and support LRP mobilizing existing groups such as Community Journalist Group, and Child Forum.
- Ensure a safe place in child spaces and introduce child-friendly activities consistent with program guidelines.
- Work as CS focal person of specific LRP and respond to emergency support.
- Take required initiatives to enhance the child center and its learning environment
Project Cycle Management
- Take initiative or assist in developing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and publication of child sponsorship unit.
- Participate in Participatory Review and Reflection Process (PRRP), LRP appraisal/evaluation process, Annual plan & budget of LRP.
- Coordinate the girl supporter project from planning, budgeting, attending international meetings, field level communication, implementation, and reporting for increasing girl participation in community development activities.
- Participate and assist in relevant entities, national meetings, and events, and coordinate with Strategic Priority focal.
- Digitalize the activity of the Community Journalist Group and ensure the digital publication of their writings.
- Attend coordination meetings and initiatives with LRP focal, SPs, and MEAL regarding strengthening LRP operations
Relationships
Associate Officer – Child Sponsorship will report to Manager – Child Sponsorship of ActionAid Bangladesh. S/he is expected to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers in team, priority, project management team. S/he must be able to communicate with other teams and units, both programme and function of AAB. S/he is expected to maintain relationship with relevant Government, Non-government agencies, funding affiliates and othersx.
Required Educational Qualification and Experiences
Education
- Graduation in Environmental Science/Environmental Studies/ Disaster and Environment studies/ Development Studies or a Complementary degree.
- Training on climate change-related policy analysis, policy advocacy and networking.
Experience
- At least 1-2 years of working experience in the development sector especially child issues. Expertise in writing reports/articles/features, and database management.
- Experience in organizing and conducting online and offline capacity-building sessions.
- Knowledge of the challenges of vulnerable communities of Bangladesh and working in the partnership approach.
Technical Skills
- Writing Reports and Case Studies
- Knowledge on Managing web-based data management system
- Knowledge about Child Sponsorship processes and activities.
- Strong communication skills required for Documentation and Reporting

Required IT Competencies:
- Sound in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Sound in presentation through PowerPoint (or open presentation in any session).
Required Language Competencies:
- Bengali: Fluency in speaking and writing.
- English: Fluency in speaking and writing.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to contribute ideas on development issues.
- Willing to visit field frequently.
- Support resource mobilisation initiatives
- Orientation re gender sensitivity.
- Dedicated and hard working.
- Strong team working abilities.
