Project Coordinator - POWER Project

Job Summary
The Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for the overall implementation and management of the POWER project funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. It is a multi-country project where the PC will manage and delivery activities of POWER project including coordinating and engaging the AA country staff on thematic and advocacy related aspects of the project. The position will support the local partners to realise the objectives of the project. PC will also play active role in linking the activities at local and national level to carry out advocacy interventions of the project. The incumbent will assist to PM for overall coordination and reporting of the project to AAI and will be under the direct supervision of the PM of the POWER Project in Bangladesh.

Contextual major areas of the performance of the position are

  1. Develop, manage and disseminate project plan and budget, implementation and monitoring of interventions of the POWER project.
  2. Integration among the unpaid care economy, market access, sustainable agriculture and SVAW towards accelerate women income generation and control of their income.
  3. Country level co-ordination with partners and national PMT (oversight team) as per need with clear schedules of reporting and meetings.
  4. Consistent co-ordination with Project Manager, co-ordinate for required technical inputs from International Secretariat through the Project Manager
  5. National level networking and alliance building with relevant institutions, networks, activists and feeding AAB experiences into external debates
  6. Risk identification and management
  7. Team management and enabling participation of staff and partner in all country meets Reporting, documentation and dissemination

Key responsibilities include (not limited to)

Project Development and Management:

  • Develop and monitor country specific plans and budgets regular basis
  • Follow the strategy for POWER project implementation i.e. operational plan, monitoring and evaluation tools etc.Meeting donor compliance and maintaining coordination with finance, M&E, Internal Audit, fund raising team.
  • Ensure high quality monitoring and evaluation of the project in line with ActionAid and POWER guidelines
  • Ensure project cycle management (i.e. baseline, yearly review, implementation, monitoring, mid-term review, evaluation, phase out)
  • Generate innovative ideas towards smooth implementation of the project
  • Leading functional integration between SPs and LRPs
  • Ensure full compliance with all POWER contract requirements including all reports and communications from country level.
  • Identify the needs of partner staff and community and link them with appropriate resources.
  • Coordination with relevant AA country thmatic staff on enhancing learning and sharing.

Advocacy, campaign and networking

  • Analyze the gap and ambiguity of laws, policies related to women economic empowerment and major working areas of the POWER project are UCW, CRSA and market access.
  • Facilitate the policy advocacy on the issues involving potential partners, policy makers, policy implementers, researcher, media and respective stake holders
  • Ensure link up advocacy issue from community to National level and support to PM for lining up regional (South Asia) and international level.
  • Strategic communication and lobby with GOs, INGOs, and different forum.
  • Facilitate networks, alliances and mobilize mass people from local and nation level to support policy influence.
  • Supporting online and offline campaign of UCW and women’s market access

Team Management

  • Support team members to facilitate partnership management and implementation of the project.
  • Providing programmatic and strategic guidelines to the team following the project goal, objective and the implementation strategy and as well as maintaining AAB’s policies
  • Planning, Supervision & Appraisal
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Knowledge and capacity building of team members
  • Maintain interpersonal communication in team and organization

Research, documentation and reporting

  • Coordinate and consolidate reports periodically both narrative and financial and submit to the AAB and Project Manger
  • Ensure final evaluation
  • Ensure documentation and dissemination of best practices, change stories, and learning
  • Responsible for accomplishment of research, study, etc under the project maintaining good working relationship with Programme, Quality and Impact Team, AAB towards use of outcome for policy influence
  • Produce/publish and disseminate learning documents periodically

Partnership Management

  • Develop partnership with project partners and facilitate project partners for quality project output delivery in compliance with AAIB polices

  • Facilitate partnership management issues within the team and support to adhere partnership related issues, governance, policy and practices of AAB
  • Partner capacity building and ensure all technical assistance to partner and their staff’s capacity building to build their better understanding of the project goal, objectives, strategy.
  • Provide technical support to partner for integration of UCW, CRSA, women’s market access and SVAW leading to women economic empowerment
  • Supervising Project Cycle Management (Appraisal, Phase-out, etc)
  • Monitoring both programme and financial issues, and ensure financial compliance of the implementing partner

Organizational representation

  • Upholding project issues and organization’s stand on policy and campaign issues to represent in different national and international forum.
  • Participate different national and international events e.g. seminar, workshop, training, dialogue etc in favour of the organization
  • Coordinate AA and donor visit.

Relationships
Project Coordinator will report to Manager – POWER Project of ActionAid Bangladesh. S/He has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers, greater programme team including project teams under PPC Directorate and organization’s priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both programme and operational.

Required Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s in social science / law / gender studies or development studies.
  • At least 04 years of experience in the development areas particularly at least 3 years in women rights and gender issues
  • Should have experience on

    • Sound in participatory development process and HRBA
    • Work in INGOs or long-term project funded by INGOs
