Job Summary:
The Coordinator – Child Protection (Response & Prevention) is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and ensuring the quality of child protection response and prevention interventions. The position ensures child protection programming is rights-based and child-centered, and compliant with ActionAid’s policies, national legislation, inter-agency standards, and donor requirements within humanitarian and refugee contexts.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Program Planning and Implementation
- Support the project manager to design, implementation, and monitoring of child protection response and prevention activities.
- Ensure CP case management services are delivered in line with inter-agency CP Case Management Guidelines and national frameworks.
- Oversee prevention interventions addressing child marriage, child labor, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- Ensure integration of child protection risk mitigation across all programme activities.
- Support development of work plans, implementation strategies, and activity schedules aligned with approved budgets.
Child Protection Response (Case Management)
- Provide technical oversight to CP case management, including identification, assessment, case planning, referrals, follow-up, and closure.
- Ensure Best Interest Procedures (BIP/BID) are applied where required.
- Maintain ethical, confidential, and safe information management practices, including use of CPIMS+ where applicable.
- Coordinate referrals with GBV, Health, MHPSS, Education, and Legal actors.
- Participate in case conferences and provide guidance on complex or high-risk cases.
Child Protection Prevention and Community Engagement
- Lead prevention programming through community awareness, caregiver engagement, adolescent initiatives, and community-based child protection mechanisms.
- Strengthen community structures to identify, prevent, and respond to child protection risks.
- Promote meaningful, safe, and age-appropriate participation of children and adolescents.
- Support development and dissemination of CP IEC and behavior change communication materials.
Supervision, Capacity Building, and Team Management
- Supervise CP Officers and Case Workers through regular coaching, mentoring, and performance reviews.
- Facilitate capacity-building initiatives on CP case management, CPIMS+, safeguarding, PSEA, and child-friendly approaches.
- Ensure staff wellbeing through supportive supervision and promote self-care practices.
- Ensure all team members adhere to ActionAid’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
Coordination, Representation, and Advocacy
- Represent ActionAid Bangladesh in CP Sub-Sector meetings, coordination forums, and technical working groups.
- Maintain coordination with CiC offices, SMS agencies, UN agencies, and partner organizations.
- Contribute to joint assessments, referral pathway updates, and inter-agency planning processes.
- Advocate for child rights, mainstreaming protection, and improved access to services for children at risk.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Compliance
- Ensure timely, accurate, and quality reporting in line with donor and organizational requirements.
- Contribute to donor reports, situation reports, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Monitor programme indicators and support data-driven decision-making.
- Support audits, evaluations, and donor visits related to child protection programming.
Safeguarding, Security, and Risk Management
- Ensure safeguarding, PSEA, and child protection policies are implemented across all activities.
- Identify and mitigate child protection risks linked to programme implementation.
- Ensure functional, safe, and child-friendly complaint and feedback mechanisms.
- Follow ActionAid security protocols and promote a safe working environment for staff and communities.
Relationships
The incumbent will report to the Project Manager.
Required Educational Qualifications and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience in child protection programming in humanitarian or development contexts.
- At least 2 years’ experience in coordination or supervisory role.
- Strong experience in CP case management and prevention programming.
- Experience working in refugees or emergency settings is highly desirable.
Required Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of Child Protection Minimum Standards and CP Case Management Guidelines.
- Familiarity with CPIMS+ and information management principles.
- Proven capacity in supervision, training, and quality assurance.
- Strong coordination, reporting, and analytical skills.
