Job Summary:
ActionAid Bangladesh Programme and Partnership Development Unit within the Resource Mobilisation department is an ambitious team covering institutional government/non-government, trust and foundation, private sector, and individual giving/philanthropy partnerships harnessing collaborative working relationships to help realize our broader mission of social justices that defines our human rights-based approach.
The team develops long-term, multi-channel partnerships which helps to achieve strategic goals across
fundraising, advocacy and programmes. The role of Officer – Programme & Partnership Development is to support project design and innovation, identify, engage, and secure new partnerships and existing portfolio in terms of reporting, documentation, local child sponsorship, and donor relationship management across core programmatic priority areas. The post-holder will report to the Manager – Philanthropy & Private Sector Partnerships and under the strategi guidance of Head of Innovation & Resource Mobilisation and help deliver the fundraising strategy and action plan.
The incumbent is expected to extensively support account management of individual donors, and the
engagement of prospective major supporters for ActionAid Bangladesh. The role will also support with the coordination of Philanthropy and Private Sector engagement, working closely with other account managers in the team. The role requires sufficient knowledge and understanding of fundraising, supporter servicing, fundraising campaigns, fundraising communication products, digital marketing, proposal development and reporting.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Fundraising:
- Conducting comprehensive scoping of potential funding opportunities from major trusts,foundations, and private sector entities to ensure a sustainable pipeline of resources and partnerships.
- Maintaining a robust and comprehensive database of supporters and donor partners for efficient relationship management and driving engagement toward impactful outcomes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to perform needs assessments, proposal development, Go/No-Go analyses, and due diligence to ensure the proposals are strategically sound and operationally viable. These activities include providing technical expertise in problem analysis, logical frameworks, risk assessments, and stakeholder mapping—key to building credible and competitive submissions.
- Producing and disseminating high-impact positioning content such as capacity statements, management reports, newsletters, and fundraising materials for donor engagement, brand positioning, and stakeholder communication.
- Strategizing and coordinating impactful fundraising events and campaigns, both physical and digital, to raise funds and awareness while cultivating meaningful connections with donors, partners and the border community of potential supporters.
- Engage with participants during events to generate interest, secure partnership, and strengthen the initiative's visibility.
- Taking lead in organizing and supporting fundraising and branding events arranged by AAB, contributing to the overall success, impact, and enhancing the branding of our work.
Donor Account Management
- Facilitate effective management of AAB’s fundraising partnerships by coordinating day-to-day relationships and grant management with relevant departments and functions.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to draft partnership contracts, ensuring comprehensive review and adherence to AAB and donor compliance standards.
- Participate in monitoring project performance to ensure aid effectiveness, maintain quality standards, and strengthen accountability.
- Regularly update the ActionAid CMS with details of new and ongoing projects, transition phased-out initiatives, and develop grant, project, and delivery pages.
- Co-develop, review, and submit donor narrative and financial reports maintaining accuracy, high quality, and impactful stories of change.
Regular Giving Campaigns
- Actively promote the initiatives such as "Support A Child" to potential individual supporters, private sector partners, and donor networks to secure funding and expand the local SAC’s or local IG reach.
- Take a variety of innovative approaches to engage with corporate entities, institutions, trusts, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals for driving the SAC localization in alignment with the initiative's objectives.
- Support maintaining and updating a comprehensive database of individual child supporters (local), tracking their contributions and engagement.
- Ensure accurate records of supporters' status, correspondence, and payment schedules to nurture longterm donor relationships.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop supporting packages and communication materials, including briefings and child profiles, to effectively present the initiative to potential sponsors.
- Support in preparing periodic reports for sponsors, highlighting program achievements, participant updates, and impact stories.
- Support to develop and disseminate compelling content, such as child success stories, newsletters, and updates, to sustain sponsor engagement and attract new supporters. Ensure that the supporter servicing is taking place in a timely manner, while ensuring the quality, as well as complying with the AAB’s policies.
Insights & Knowledge Management
- Maintain and update the fundraising pipeline database, and dashboard to ensure accurate and timely input to generate periodic fundraising performance reports.
- Facilitate knowledge capture by documenting and streamlining project learnings, including best practices, based on insights from MEAL and Project Management teams.
- Actively participate in internal forums and platforms, such as the Core Programme Development Community of Practice (CPD CoP), to foster innovation, share best practices, and reflect on lessons learned.
- Develop and manage accurate income forecasts, trackers, and reporting calendars, collaborating with the team to identify and address any deviations proactively.
- Monitor and generate analytics on digital fundraising campaign reach, conversion, donation growth rate, average donation size etc.
Relationships
S/he will report to Manager – Philanthropy & Private Sector Partnerships of ActionAid Bangladesh. S/he is expected to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers in team, priority, project management team. S/he must be able to communicate with other teams and units, both programme and function of AAB. S/he is expected to maintain relationship with relevant Government, Non-government agencies, funding affiliates and others.
Required Educational Qualification and Experiences
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, international relations/affairs, development studies, humanities, business administration, human rights, political science, or other relevant discipline or relevant experience.
Experience and Technical Skills
- At least 2 – 3 years’ experience with with an NGO in programme funding and partnership development capacity. Experience of working with both institutional, private sector partnerships, and local fundraising will be given priority.
- Excellent Bengali and English language skills (written, reading, and spoken). Excellent writing, reasoning, and analytical skills.
- Working thematic knowledge on any of the following themes: women’s rights and gender equality, humanitarian response, disaster risk reduction, resilience, governance, youth development, policy, and campaigns.
- Knowledge of Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA).
- Experience of developing proposals and/or tender bids to various donor groups and mass fundraising campaigns.
- Sufficient understanding of logical framework, theory of change, budgeting, reporting and needs assessment.
- Sufficient understanding of corporate strategies, both commercial and CSR to develop stronger relationships and alignment with AAB, and to cultivate partnership opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to prioritize own workload and work with minimal supervision. Ability to work with multiple teams in a diverse environment
