In Bangladesh, ACTED started its activities in 2017 in order to respond to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis in the sectors of Site Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Community Protection, Information Management, Drain Monitoring & Intervention, SuLMER, Emergency Preparedness Response in the Camps of the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site, Cox’s Bazar.

Key roles and responsibilities

Strengthen Relationships:

  • Enhance and maintain effective communication and relationships between the Country Director and government representatives at all levels in Bangladesh.
  • Enhance

Contextualize Programming:

  • Provide the Country Director with in-depth, localized insights into the Bangladeshi socio-political landscape, including media perspectives, to inform and contextualize Acted’s programming.
  • Monitor Bangladeshi Social media related to Bangladesh, providing weekly and ad-hoc briefings to the Country Director.

Support Coordination and Representation:

  • Organize and manage meetings with key stakeholders such as national government officials, local representatives, CSOs, and other relevant entities.
  • Offer timely, contextualized information and analysis to the Country Director to improve strategic decision-making and program implementation.
  • Conduct targeted research and prepare presentations or reports to support the Country Director's initiatives.
  • Assist the Country Director in representation tasks, including meeting management, minutes, speech preparation, and public presentations.
  • Provide translation services and cultural mediation to ensure effective communication and understanding.

Administration management:

  • Support coordination in the handling of administrative task with NGOAB and related services, such as taxes, audits, visa etc
  • Support Coordination in the management of Dhaka office, in small procurement of goods and services etc.
Required qualifications and technical expertise

The candidate must have the following educational degree

  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Development Studies, Political science or a relevant subject with 2/3 years’ experience.
  • Master’s Degree in any relevant field is preferable with 1/2 experience
Selection Criteria
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Previous experience in the humanitarian field, proposal development, grants management and donor relations are required
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian aid system and ability to understand the donor's systems
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills and ability to effectively communicate with relevant authorities
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as well as the ability to plan.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
