In Bangladesh, ACTED started its activities in 2017 in order to respond to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis in the sectors of Site Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Community Protection, Information Management, Drain Monitoring & Intervention, Emergency Preparedness Response in the Camps of the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site, Cox’s Bazar.

Key roles and responsibilities

The Field Assistant-IM will be responsible for the following tasks:
Coordination

  • Support Field Officer-IM for coordination with local authorities, Camp-in-Charge (CiC), SMS agencies, implementing agency staff, and local communities, to ensure that field teams have the necessary permissions and support to work effectively

 Assessment/Camp Monitoring

  • Support day-to-day planning of data collection carried out by IM field teams, in coordination with Field Officer
  • Ensure the presence of enumerators and volunteers as per the activity plan during Assessment/camp Monitoring
  • Monitor the quality of activities carried out by enumerators (host) and volunteers (Rohingya), and provide immediate support and direction in coordination with Field Officer
  • Track progress of day-to-day data collection against agreed targets and provide daily progress reports to Field Officer
  • Track enumerators’ attendance, assets, log sheet and logistics item daily, and handover required documents and assets to Field Officer after completion of activity
  • Support field teams in troubleshooting issues encountered in the field
  • The Field Assistant-IM will be the focal person of his assigned camp for the activity Camp Facility and Infrastructure Monitoring
  • Contribute to other official tasks as assigned by Field Officer

      Training and preparation

  • Support Project Officer-IM for the translation of questionnaires into Bangla/Rohingya dialect if required
  • Review questionnaire with Project Officer-IM and share feedbacks
  • Support Project Officer-IM in the facilitation of the training
  • Ensure presence of the enumerators in the training venue
  • Attend capacity building training

Key Technical Skills:

    • Map Navigation-Field Map
    • Mobile Data Collection-(KOBO/Google Form)
    • Research Technique
Required qualifications and technical expertise

The candidate must have the following educational degree ;                                                                          

  • At least Bachelor's degree in relevant field (any field of social sciences, development studies, BBA, Economics, Environmental Science etc.)
Selection Criteria
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • At least 1-2 years of working experience in NGOs/INGOs, especially in Monitoring and Evaluation, Data Management, Information Management, Research
  • Good written and verbal communication in English.
  • Experience of working in Rohingya Response
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with field teams, local authorities, and local communities
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as well as the ability to plan, take initiative and organize work independently.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in refugee camp settings and spending majority of time in the field
  • Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
