In Bangladesh, Acted started its activities in 2018 in order to respond to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis in the sectors of Site Management, Natural Resource Management, Community Based Protection, Information Management, Watershed Management, SuLMER, Emergency Preparedness Response, CDCS & CL in the Camps of the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site, Cox’s Bazar.

Key roles and responsibilities
  • Daily Field Data Collection Responsibilities
    • Conduct household surveys using provided tools
      • Use assigned data collection tools (digital or paper-based) to gather data.
      • Carry out interviews with project-identified respondents in the designated areas.
    • Ensure confidentiality and rapport
      • Maintain respondents’ anonymity and foster a trusting, safe environment to encourage honest responses.
    • Accurately record and document data
      • Enter information using the digital data entry systems provided, double-checking for precision and completeness.
    • Use equipment responsibly
      • Take proper care of any project-owned devices or tools entrusted to you during fieldwork.
    • Identify and escalate challenges
      • Note any factors that might impact data reliability and promptly report them to supervisory staff for mitigation.
    • Perform any other survey-related tasks as delegated by your supervisor
      • This may include revisiting households, assisting with tool setup, or helping with logistical coordination.
  • End-of-Day Reporting & Supervision
    • Submit data to the server daily
      • Ensure all collected data is uploaded to the central server before proceeding to reporting.
    • Report to supervisor before and after fieldwork
      • Begin the day with a briefing to clarify targets and plans; end with a debrief on progress, issues, and next steps.
    • Review daily targets and achievements
      • Discuss how many interviews were completed and any variances compared to the day’s goals with your supervisor.
Required qualifications and technical expertise

The candidate must have the following educational degree

  • Minimum HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate)
Selection Criteria
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla - Chittagong dialect is a must
  • Previous working experience in Rohingya response as a data collector.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian principles and willingness to work in Rohingya response is required.
  • Attention to the details of the data collection processes.
  • Ability to work independently and confidence to visit households inside the camps.
  • Computer literacy to be able to work on smartphone-based data collection applications.
  • Good facilitation skills.
  • Good communication skills and experience in participatory methodology.
  • Motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Dedicated to completing each day's work and target assigned by the supervisors.
  • Time management skills.
  • Positive attitudes and willingness to learn.
