In Bangladesh, Acted started its activities in 2018 in order to respond to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis in the sectors of Site Management, Natural Resource Management, Community Protection, Information Management, Watershed Management, SuLMER, Emergency Preparedness Response, CDCS & CL in the Camps of the Kutupalong-Balukhali Expansion Site, Cox’s Bazar.

Key roles and responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Beneficiary Targeting:
    • Mobilize beneficiaries for payments and work-related activities (construction, drain cleaning, and reforestation).
    • Focus on beneficiary targeting to ensure proper selection and engagement.
  1. Beneficiary Coordination:
    • Coordinate with beneficiaries to inform them about payment details and schedules.
    • Manage beneficiary handling during payment processes, including card checks and verification.
  1. Sector Coordination and Communication:
    • Facilitate communication and coordination among different sectors involved in the project.
    • Ensure smooth information flow between stakeholders.
  1. Meeting Participation and Input:
    • Attend scheduled meetings and provide necessary input to support project goals.
    • Communicate updates and feedback from the field to supervisors and team members.
  1. Drain Cleaning:
    • Assist in drain cleaning activities as needed, under the supervision of the construction supervisors.
  1. Scheme Handover and Utilization:
    • Raise awareness among beneficiaries about proper scheme handover procedures.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of schemes by beneficiaries.
  1. Inventory Management:
    • Manage inventory related to field activities and ensure proper documentation.
    • Support the database team with CBT attendance, extension, and approval data.
  1. Environmental Activities:
    • Support and participate in environmental activities as required.
    • Assist in the implementation of environmental initiatives and programs.
  1. Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Identify remaining payment beneficiaries and collect necessary data for cash-for-work (CFW) programs.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to the Environment Officer and Construction Supervisor.
  1. Policy Adherence:
    • Adhere to HR policies, including the Code of Conduct, PSEAH (Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment), anti-fraud measures, and zero tolerance policies.
    • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  1. Additional Responsibilities:
    • Ensure effective communication and coordination with all stakeholders.
    • Monitor and evaluate the progress of field activities.
    • Assist in the implementation of community engagement strategies.

Required qualifications and technical expertise

The candidate must have the following educational degree ;

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline, diploma in engineering or any other relevant subject
Selection Criteria
  • At least 02 years in Previous experience in community engagement, facilitation, or related roles.
  • Skills in report writing, documentation.
  • Ability to communicate in the local dialect (Chittagonian Dialect).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on work-related matters.
  • Strong organizational & interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate with field teams, local authorities, and local communities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as well as the ability to plan, take initiative and organize work independently.
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in refugee camp settings and spending majority of time in the field
  • Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment
