on Annual Performance Study for FY 2019 Reporting for Feed the Future Bangladesh Rice and Diversified Crops (RDC) Activity

The Feed the Future Bangladesh Rice and Diversified Crops (RDC) activity is a USAID-funded project designed to catalyze market system changes that promote a diversified farm management approach oriented to intensified rice production and higher-value, nutrient-rich crops to increase incomes, for men and women,  and improve food security and nutrition in the rice, maize, pulse (mungbean, lentil), oilseed (sunflower, sesame),mechanization, ICT and finance sectors in the FTF Zone of Influence (ZoI) in southern Bangladesh. RDC is implemented by ACDI/VOCA in partnership with Action for Enterprise (AFE).

The objective of RDC:

  • Improve Food Security through Systemic Changes that increase incomes
  • Increase the intensification of rice and productivity of diversified crops
  • Increase competitiveness and inclusiveness of rice based crop market systems

The RDC activity has the following life of activity targets:

  • 500,000 farmers in the FtF zone will have access to new and improved products, services, and/or market channels.
  • 50% expansion of commercial outreach in the FtF zone of production and post-harvest related inputs and services.
  • 50% expansion of commercial procurement by collaborating companies in the FtF zone.

The target districts under this FtF zone are: Khulna division (Jessore, Jhenaidah, Magura, Narail, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira, Chuadanga, Meherpur), Barisal division (Barisal, Bhola, Jhalokathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali) and Dhaka division (Faridpur, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Rajbari, Shariatpur).

The broad objective of this study is to undertake a comparative static analysis to assess the extent of RDC’s contribution in bringing about a change in the economic outcomes of input and output market as well as existing market system dynamics of specific crops in the FtF zone. Issuance of this request for proposal (RFP) in no way constitutes a commitment by RDC to execute any agreement or to pay any costs incurred by firms that respond to this RFP.
