Position: Data Quality Management Specialist (FSN 9)

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Data Quality Management Specialist for USAID/ Bangladesh’s Nutrition Activity (BNA). The goal of BNA is to contribute to improvements in nutrition outcomes for children under five, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescent girls in the Feed the Future Zone of Influence (ZOI) by (1) increasing consumption of nutritious, diverse, and safe diets by rural households; (2) increasing social and economic empowerment of girls and women; and (3) improving adoption of improved water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. BNA will implement nutrition-sensitive interventions that complement and reinforce ongoing nutrition-specific activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the MEL Manager, the Data Quality Management Specialist is responsible for supporting project offices to utilize the MIS system accurately by inputting quality data. Tasks may include, but are limited to, the following:

  • Supervise MEL Coordinators and Implementing Partners’ tasks for field level data input, as requested by the COP, the DCOP, the Solutions Integration Nutrition Advisor, and/or the Technical Directors of three Implementing Partners.
  • Participate in data cleaning initiatives, as required, including review and correction of records based on project needs.
  • Ensure the integrity of the data files maintained by Implementing Partners, BNA Dhaka, and Abt Home Office.
  • Upon demand, write and present daily progress reports to MEL Manager and other technical leads.
  • Conduct regular field level visits to validate quality of data entry, cleaning, uploading, and other work procedures.
  • Conduct trainings on MIS system, data entry requirements and instructions, and refresher trainings whenever problems consistently arise in any part of the data entry process.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in statistics, IT, or any Business-related field. Master’s Degree qualification desired
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in development projects with the above experience
  • Experience in data entry, data cleaning, and data analysis from an MIS system
  • Experience in managing tax payer records, data analysis, or data cleaning
  • Exemplary IT skills
  • Strong IT training skills
  • Must be very detail-oriented
  • Must be able to stay focused for extended periods of time while compiling, analyzing, and comparing large amounts of data
  • Ability to work in a group setting and independently
  • Must be a "self-starter” who will identify problems and initiate corrective actions without specific direction from supervisor
  • Ability to make independent and reasoned decisions
  • Be able to interface with other departments and teams in a professional and cooperative manner
  • Outstanding ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Proficient with computers and Data Software applications
