Opportunity

Abt Global has been implementing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity since 2018. The program improves dietary practices; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); and the social and economic status of women and adolescents in Feed the Future Zone of Influence (ZoI) and Zone of Resilience (ZoR) districts. Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity applies a combination of market system development (MSD) and social behavior change (SBC) approaches that empower market and community actors to address underlying causes of malnutrition and catalyze sustainable change in communities. Abt Global seeks bright, talented, and intellectually curious students to participate in Summer 2024 student internship under its Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity. As a paid student intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while being immersed into Abt’s organizational culture. Students interns will learn from some of the top experts in their respective fields while experiencing events/programs that are useful in any professional setting. Our program will consist of a robust and structured curriculum that encompasses professional development opportunities and a mentorship program. Student interns will work in person in Dhaka office, with a possibility of occasional travel outside Dhaka (organized by Abt).

The Summer 2024 Student Internship Program at Abt Global is 12 weeks, beginning in May 2024. Student interns must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the program.
We are looking for two student interns profiles: one from the Business Administration background, another from the Gender/Nutrition/Food Science/Social Sciences background.

Business Administration student intern

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Private Sector Research and Analysis

  • Identify and list potential private sector partners of the Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity.
  • Conduct detailed business profile analyses of these companies.
  • Assist in developing Project Descriptions with research insights and data.

Support to Market Systems Development (MSD) Team

  • Assist MSD team to contribute to strategies for private sector engagement and partnership development.

Project Support and Documentation

  • Help in preparing project reports, presentations, and documentation related to private sector engagement.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops, ensuring logistical and administrative support as necessary.

What we value in Business Administration student intern

  • Is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Program
  • Have academic concentration in E-Business/Entrepreneurship/General Business/Marketing/Management/Rural Development or any other relevant concentration
  • Has completed at least 90 credit hours or equivalent
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge in data analysis tools
  • Is available to work full-time throughout the 12-week student internship
  • Is eligible to work in Bangladesh

Gender/Nutrition/Food Science/Social Sciences student intern

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Gender/Nutrition Materials Review and Development

  • Assist relevant technical lead and other colleagues in developing, reviewing and updating project materials, i.e., guidelines, communication materials in Bangla/English on gender and/or nutrition.
  • Help translating from Bangla to English or vice versa short documents.
  • Stay informed about industry trends to offer relevant technical guidance.

Project Support and Documentation

  • Help in preparing project reports, presentations, and documentation related to gender and/or nutrition.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops, ensuring logistical and administrative support as necessary.

What we value in Gender/Nutrition/Food Science/Social Sciences student intern

  • Is currently enrolled in a Bachelor Program
  • Have academic concentration in Gender/Nutrition/Food Science/Social Sciences such as Sociology, Anthropology, Economics
  • Has completed at least 90 credit hours or equivalent
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Is available to work full-time throughout the 12-week student internship
  • Is eligible to work in Bangladesh
