Job Purpose: The WORLD Bank has been aiding the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh through United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to implement Health and Gender Support, Cox’s Bazar (HGS-CXB). Jhpiego is an implementing partner of UNFPA for this project. Under this project, midwives are deployed at UzHCs and UH&FWCs of Cox’s Bazar district to provide SRH services including ANC, NVD, PNC and PPFP services. Clinical Mentor (Midwife) would be deployed to mentor the midwives for ensuring quality of care as well as support FP department to organize special LARC/PM programs at UzHCs and UH&FWCs.

Main duties & responsibilities:

Clinical Mentor (Midwife) will work to accomplish the project objectives and will perform her assignments under the overall guidance and supervision of the Program Officer- HGSP/Program Specialist- HGSP, Jhpiego. She will be responsible to accomplish the following assignment:

Capacity Development and Mentoring

  • In consultation with the supervisor, develop a comprehensive plan for mentoring of midwives of the upazila.
  • Provide mentoring support to midwives to improve their competency, so they can provide high quality pre-conception services, antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), essential newborn care (ENC), PPFP specifically PPIUD, other reproductive and adolescent health care.
  • Supervisory support to the facility providers to ensure enabling environment for quality of care, standard IP practice, waste management etc.
  • Perform as a linkage for system support for quality and coverage of SRH care.
  • Organize and conduct hands-on training for the staffs of UHFWCs on Infection Prevention Practices, develop action plan and follow-up implementation of action plan, and share with facility managers accordingly.
  • Provide coaching of trained providers of IUD services provision.

Program Support

  • Support FP department to develop a plan and implement special LARC/PM programs at UzHCs and UH&FWCs.
  • Performance documentation and reporting of special LARC/PM programs.

FP Client Follow-up

  • Collect information of PPFP and LARC/PM clients and do follow-up over mobile phone.
  • Adequate documentation and reporting of client follow-up accordingly.
  • Representation
  • Represent the organization through participation in the meetings, workshops, conferences, seminars, and symposiums as assigned.

Compliance

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program's goals of safeguarding implementation. She/He will be a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding to establish a safe working environment.

Safeguarding/ PSEA

  • Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. She will follow the safeguarding reporting procedure if any reportable incident occurs, encouraging others to do so.

Special Assignment

  • Carry out any other tasks the supervisor and senior management team assign.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of Diploma in Midwifery from a renowned institution accredited by Bangladesh h Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Valid registration and licensure as a Diploma Midwife in Bangladesh.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in NVD, ANC, PNC, ENC, PPFP services delivery.
  • Adequate knowledge regarding public health systems and infrastructure in Cox’s Bazar

MAJOR CHALLENGES

  • Accomplish scheduled tasks with quality within the timeframe.
  • Ensure active engagement and support of all key stakeholders at all stages of the project accomplishment.

Key competencies:

  • Proven experience as Lab Technician or relevant position.
  • Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) Systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Compassionate, patient, and culturally sensitive approach to care.
