Job Title (Designation): Assistant Program Officer (Pharmacy Associate Initiative)

Salary Range: Consolidated Monthly Pay as per Jhpiego rules.

Job Purpose: Jhpiego is collaborating with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and has been tasked to implement the Pharmacy Associates project (Test and roll out Pharmacies with Pharmacy Associate Intervention). Under the overall guidance of the Project Specialist and Program Officer of Urban Health the Program Associate will perform the following duties:

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • S/he will coordinate with other team members, managers, and providers of the targeted project areas to accomplish the planned activities as per approved AWP.
  • Overall coordination of different stakeholders of the project and liaison with Bangladesh Chemists and Druggists Samity (BCDS) and other relevant stakeholders including the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP)
  • Identification of qualified pharmacies where pharmacy associates can get their employment based on agreed selection criteria
  • Identification of older adolescents aspiring to become pharmacy associates based on agreed selection criteria
  • Local-level advocacy and a series of sensitization meetings with the local authorities (DGHS, DGFP, DGDA, Women and Children Affairs, IFB, Social Affairs, etc.) to create employment opportunities for women.
  • Conduct orientation/sensitization workshop with pharmacists and pharmacy owners to ensure older adolescents’ access to FP/contraceptive services through pharmacies
  • Organize cascade training for pharmacy associates 
  • Organize advocacy meeting with the Bangladesh Chemist & Druggist Samity (BCDS) for the employment of pharmacy associates 
  • Organize workshops with pharmacy owners to make pharmacies gender-equal workplaces. 
  • Organize workshops to identify specific IEC materials needs and develop IEC materials including job aids and intervention branding 
  • Organize a campaign on promoting pharmacy initiatives.
  • Printing display and distributing IEC, promotional, branding, and visibility materials based on an agreed plan.  
  • Recruitment of some mentors and orient them as per the mentoring guidelines
  • Ensure visibility of the intervention
  • Proper documentation, meeting minutes, need-based data collection and report writing
  • Regular reporting to the immediate supervisor and following the guidance in conducting the activities

Compliance

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program's goals of safeguarding implementation. She/He will be a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding to establish a safe working environment.

Safeguarding/ PSEA

  • Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. She will follow the safeguarding reporting procedure if any reportable incident occurs, encouraging others to do so.

Special Assignment

  • Carry out any other tasks the supervisor and senior management team assign.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social science or any other discipline
  • At least three years of working experience with an interest in public health, focusing SRH in any national or international non-governmental organization

Key competencies:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Bangla
  • Computer literacy with particular skills in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Bijoy52, and MS Outlook.
  • Successful implementation of the project objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to visit the targeted facilities frequently (at least 75% of the time) using public transportation to accomplish the assignments.
