The incumbent will work as a team dedicated to implement the project “Achieving Universal Access to SRHR in UNFPA Supported Project Districts” of Jhpiego Bangladesh. S/he will be coordinating the technical assistance activities with NIPORT to conduct the “Bangladesh Socio-Behavioral Survey on Health, Population and Nutrition (BSBS-HPN) 2022”.

Job Description / Responsibility

  • The Research Coordinator will be reportable to the Program Director- SRHR, Jhpiego (administrative) and will perform her/his assignments under the overall guidance of the Director (Research), NIPORT. The incumbent will assist NIPORT staff in carrying out the specific activities of BSBS-HPN 2022 survey of 4th HPNSP. S/he will be responsible to carryout the assignment (but not limited to) as follows:
  • Assist NIPORT staff in performing and follow-up of key activities related to BSBS-HPN 2022 under the technical guidance Jhpiego and/or other DPs, specifically the Program Analyst-Urban Health, UNFPA Bangladesh.
  • Assist NIPORT in organizing and facilitating the Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) and the technical working group (TWG) meetings during survey implementation.
  • Assist NIPORT in capturing and carrying out the decisions of SAC and TWG meetings.
  • Assist NIPORT in preparing background information for obtaining final decisions from higher authorities in finalizing survey questionnaires, field data collection plan, field monitoring, tabulation plan, key indicator report (KIR), disseminations and final report under the close technical support of Jhpiego and UNFPA funded agencies.
  • Assist NIPORT staff in using CAPI for field data collection monitoring of the surveys.
  • Assist NIPORT in timely completion of survey activities.
  • Work with the designated technical staff within Jhpiego to ensure that UNFPA technical strategies are incorporated into the survey activities of as relevant and appropriate.
  • Assist NIPORT in documenting progress of survey activities with the participation in NIPORT Jhpiego and/or other UN supported team meetings in Bangladesh.
  • Compliance: Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program's goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment. Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
  • Special Assignment: S/he will carry out any other tasks assigned by the supervisor and/or senior management of NIPORT as well as Jhpiego.

Educational Requirements

  • Masters degree in any discipline
  • Medical Graduate, and Masters in Public Health or any relevant discipline preferred.

  • Age at least 30 years
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in research, study or survey related to health, population and nutrition.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Bangla.
  • Excellent analytical skills for identifying progress/ accomplishment of his/her assignment.
  • Excellent inter-personnel skills and ability to work in team environment.
  • Computer literacy with particular skills in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Bijoy52, and MS Outlook.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiating and communication skills.
  • Documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to operate in a complex organization, across functions and work on own initiative and collaboratively as part of diverse teams.
