Program Assistant

The High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh is pleased to announce a job opportunity for “Program Assistant” including an attractive compensation and benefits package. Job Responsibilities: The position is an administrative support-level position for one or more program(s) at the High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh. The position typically reports to a Program Manager in any of the following streams: Trade, Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Services, or International Assistance.

Provides administrative support services, including clerical duties such as making photocopies, receiving telephone calls and visitors and preparing material such as reports, letters, and charts, as well as making travel and accommodation arrangements, scheduling meetings and appointments and assisting with pre-visit arrangements and hospitality events.

The work requires many hours sitting in an office. Physical effort is required during events, when setting up furniture, installing banners/backdrops, and standing for long periods in booths. The work requires a fair level of focus while reviewing documentation (requests, legal documents, etc.) and conducting data entry. The work is also subject to stress due to fluctuating and conflicting priorities and unpredictable demands or issues.

Essential Qualifications:

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

*Language will be assessed further during the process.


  • A college diploma or post-secondary school technical or professional diploma from a legally recognized post-secondary institution in an area of study related to the job requirements (e.g. office administration, administrative assistant); OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience defined as proof of the completion of a minimum of three (3) continuing education/professional development courses related to the job requirements and a minimum three (3) years experience providing a full range of office administrative support duties.Language:


  • Minimum three (3) years experience providing administrative or clerical support in an office environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience preparing, editing and processing correspondence and administrative documents.
  • Experience with data entry in computerized systems to maintain records, files, lists and/or databases.
  • Experience providing information to clients or management.

Starting Salary: BDT 1,061,931 including housing allowance per year (Non-negotiable). + paid overtime and other attractive benefits.
