A. Responsibilities:

The National Security Risk Management (SRM) Officer will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the GIZ Security Risk Management Advisors (National and International) and staff on all matters relating to safety, security and risk management.
  • Support in maintaining and ensuring the safety and security of the GIZ staff, offices and property while adhering to the established rules and regulations.

In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks:

The National Security Risk Management (SRM) Officer will:

  • Assist the Security Risk Management Advisors (SRMAs) in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the country;
  • Monitor local media and communicate all information that may affect the security of GIZ Bangladesh with the SRMAs;
  • Undertake daily SRM admin related tasks (e.g. updating daily movement log, telephone cascade, SRM inventory etc.)
  • Assist in ensuring residential and office safety, and security preparedness;
  • Monitor and manage the contracted guards, liaise with the guard force management company as directed and providing guidance in line with agreed procedures and processes;
  • Source and provide information to SRMA related to a variety of matters in project implementation (e.g. field trips, office locations, etc.);
  • Maintain both routine and confidential correspondence files/documents, administer daily movement logs and ensure security-related documentation prepared to an agreed standard;
  • Perform any other security-related tasks assigned by the SRMAs;

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Academic qualifications

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following subjects: International Relations, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Risk Management or any other related subject

Professional experience

  • Must have 2-3 years of professional experience
  • Having held a commission in the Bangladesh Military up to the rank of Captain (Army) will be preferred;
  • Professional experience in the development sector will be an added value

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to spend up to 50% of their time in the field;

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills in English;
  • Proficient with Information Technology (IT) including MS Office especially MS Word and Excel;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, in particular in networking;
  • Have the ability to think and act quickly and effectively in response to an emergency;
  • Have a good understanding of the threats to information security and how to mitigate those threats.
