  Position  

Project Officer, Data-IT and Project Management Support (Agriculture Insurance); Microfinance Programme (Project Staff)

Job Description/ Responsibilities: -

  • Assist the team with various satellite data, BMD data, weather data collection, and analysis.
  • Provide support in analyzing and finalizing the insurance product through relevant data analysis.
  • Communicate with the insurer and other relevant stakeholders regarding product design and policy development.
  • Monitoring weather data in order to detect extreme weather events and provide support on the Claim settlement process.
  • Prepare Weather forecasts and Agri-advisory to smallholder farmers in consultation with relevant specialist.
  • Generate new ideas and innovation on data-driven solutions in collaboration with the stakeholders
  • Provide technical support in the development, implementation, and maintenance of digital platforms (e.g., data & IT system, Agri Insuretech platform, Facebook group) in order to ensure and facilitate efficient and reliable service deliveries (e.g., product design, advisory support, weather forecast, policy administration, claim management, MEAL, etc.) to the farmers, field management, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support in ERP system development for project implementation.
  • Provide assistance in the development and revision of the annual work plan and strategies for the betterment of the project
  • Provide assistance for the capacity development on ERP, Office software and tools, insurance products to the field force, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Track project data, analyze and evaluate project performance, maintain database and proactively identify issues and concerns and use participatory processes to overcome implementation obstacles
  • Frequent field visits to interact with the beneficiaries, field management, local service providers, partners, insurance companies, and local government to observe implementation progress, and monitor and verify data.
  • Assist in preparing verities of reporting that includes data-driven reports, field-level reports, progress reports, and project completion report
  • Other duties as assigned by the management
  Requirements  

Educational Requirements: Post Graduate Degree preferably in Meteorology/ Statistics/ Agriculture/ Environmental Science/ Data Science or any relevant subject form any recognised university/ institution.

Experience Requirements: At-least 3- 4 years of job experience preferably in the field of agriculture, agriculture insurance, agro-industries & input, agriculture value chains & market systems development, and agri-finance with any renowned NGOs, MFIs, companies or donor projects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Crop Insurance experience is strongly preferred
  • Actuarial Science relevant education will add value on the position
  • Ability to work independently and also in group
  • Knowledge of working in fast paced and technology driven
  • Skilled in collecting, manipulating, synthesizing, and analyzing data.
  • Experience in the programming language (Python, R, etc), Climate Modeling SPSS, or similar data analysis software and tools highly preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), especially able to use advanced excel – creating formula-based excel sheets from large data, Web Conferencing Applications, and information management systems.
  • High proficient in written and oral communication in English and Bangla.
