POSITION TITLE: Training and Material Development Officer (TMO)

LOCATION: SAFETI Office, Dhaka, Bangladesh

BACKGROUND OF PROJECT
WINROCK INTERNATIONAL is a non-profit organization that works with people around the world empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity and sustain natural resources.

Winrock International is recruiting Training and Material Development Officer for its current USDA-funded Food for Progress Safe Aqua Farming for Economic and Trade Improvement (SAFETI) Project in Bangladesh.

This is a five-year (October 2016 – September 2021) designed to increase agricultural productivity by improving production and management of hatcheries and farms in the shrimp and prawn value chains to contribute to both improved incomes, food quality and safety, as well as to improve livelihoods and environmental sustainability in the Bangladesh prawn and shrimp industry.

SAFETI is being implemented with objectives of achieving the following results through different interrelated components/ activities mentioned in the project proposal:

  • Increase agricultural productivity by improving production and management of hatcheries and farm in the shrimp and prawn value chain to contribute to both improved food quality and safety, as well as to improved livelihood and environmental sustainability in the Bangladeshi prawn and shrimp industry.
  • Expand trade of agricultural products by improving handling and sanitary controls, reducing unnecessary layers in the value chain, promoting extension services, and building the capacity of trade associations and government trade promotion bureaus.

JOB DESCRIPTION/ TERMS OF REFERENCES

Essential Responsibilities:

  • The Training and Material Development Officer will work under the supervision of the SAFETI Training Coordinator to assist in plan, develop and implement training and extension activities for the beneficiaries and staff in the field, including development of training modules & materials of the project.
  • S/he will contribute to aligning training and extension activities with SAFETI’s objectives and targets.
  • She/he will work with the SAFETI team to develop training content, methods and materials that are appropriate and meaningful for SAFETI’s farmers training and staff capacity development.
  • Assist the Training Coordinator to develop and deliver capacity building courses for the staff of the project stakeholders, including implementing partners, DoF, BFRI and the private sector organization.
  • Work closely with the Training Coordinator and Communication Manager to develop communication and education materials, including leaflets, posters, a farmer guidebook/ bulletin, newsletters and resource materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with supervisor/managers. Help solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups.
  • Work with the MEL Specialist and Training Coordinator to evaluate the effectiveness of farmers’ training programs and provide technical support to field team.
  • Undertake other training and extension related tasks requested by the Training Coordinator.

Education qualification:

  • Master’s degree (aquaculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics or related field is preferred).

Experience:

  • Related 8-10 years’ work experience and track record in designing, developing and executing successful training programs. Sound knowledge of training and materials development principles and practices.

Salary Range: As per Winrock HR policy

Work location: The primary work location will be the SAFETI project office in Dhaka with frequent field visits to SAFETI project sites Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore and Cox’s Bazar districts
