Research on Child Labor in the Dried Fish Sector in Cox’s Bazar

The Child Labor Improvements in Bangladesh (CLIMB) Project is requesting proposals from consulting firms, policy or research centers based in Bangladesh to carry out a comprehensive mixed-method research to inform design and implementation of interventions to address Child Labor (CL) and working conditions in the Dried Fish Sector (DFS) in the Cox’s Bazar region.  The CLIMB project is funded by the United States Department of Labor and implemented by Winrock International. 

The major research activities are projected to start by December 1, 2018 and be completed by March 31, 2019 with research deliverables to include findings and reports that can be used by civil society organizations and other stakeholder groups for effective engagement on child labor issues and to promote quality services to vulnerable children and families. The CLIMB project will also expect the selected research partner to participate in some research capacity development activities with CSO partners through the end of the project in February 2021. 

To be considered for this research grant, applicants must submit the following information on/before Thursday, November 8, 2018.

  • Proof of registration as a business, non-governmental organization, or institution in Bangladesh
  • Documents reflecting
  • Approach to carrying out the attached Terms of Reference (ToR) (1-2 pages), with a work plan (Gantt chart) showing how the team will carry out the research
  • Demonstrated capacity and experience to carry out the research as outlines in the attached TOR
  •  Information on the research team, including summary of qualifications and roles, and CVs for all key members
  • Acknowledgement of understanding of and availability over the research timeframe
  • A Cost Proposal and brief narrative explanation of budget assumptions presented in Excel, showing:
  • Days, unit and total costs of research team members, data collection and other labor needed
  • Travel and other costs associated with the work

Applicants are requested to submit proposals no later than 5:00 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018 to Winrock International through email at WI.CLIMB@winrock.org . The email subject line should be “CLIMB-Child Labor Research Proposal”.
