The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Bangladesh invites applications from Bangladeshi nationals for recruitment of the following position:

Major duties and responsibilities: The Field Monitor Assistant reports to the Senior Program Assistant (SPA), under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator, will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of the assistance programme (assistance to refugees from Myanmar, school feeding, maternal and child nutrition and livelihoods) at the local level, in close collaboration with the cooperating partners;
  • Monitor and review the overall commodity movements such as food deliveries, storage, transport and distribution at the site and verify if the amounts received have been properly recorded, damaged or suspected to be damaged;
  • Supervise the efficient distribution of food and cash at the site and ensure proper distribution of entitlements and verify appropriate entitlements are distributed and provide feedback to Field Officers and others on the distribution;
  • Prepare qualitative and quantitative reports based on field monitoring findings, including recommended follow-up actions to ensure program goals are achieved, share with cooperating partners and WFP SPA and ensure follow-up actions are completed on a timely basis;
  • Assist in the conduct of regular meetings of beneficiaries, project participants, community and refugee leaders and partners (Government, NGOs and private traders) on the commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements and other relevant program issues;
  • Assist in the implementation of the plan of action, review achievement and constraints and provide feedback accordingly;
  • Assist the WFP SPA and cooperating partners in encouraging women’s access to economic skills development and sensitizing public opinion on gender issues and gender focused activities;
  • Report periodically to the WFP SPA on relevant events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues;
  • Identify any apparent issues in the programme and report them to the appropriate personnel;
  • Supervise and train other personnel as appropriate;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications:

Education: Higher Secondary Education. Preferably University degree and/or equivalent with emphasis in one or more of the following disciplines; social sciences, nutrition, international relations or other related field.

Experience: At least four years of progressively responsible work experience including at least two years in the field of community and/or international development, emergency operations, refugee operations, cash and voucher programming or other related field. Experience in gender, nutrition, food security, protection, livelihoods and/or refugee assistance is highly desirable.

Language: Fluency in written and oral English and Bangla essential.

Desirable skills: Fluency in oral Chittagonian/Rohingyan dialect highly desirable.

Computer Skills: Computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
