  The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Bangladesh invites applications from Bangladeshi nationals for recruitment of the following position:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Head of Sub Office/Programme coordinator. The Senior Programme Assistant is responsible for the following duties:

  • In coordination with the Head of Sub Office/Programme coordinator, oversee WFP-assisted nutrition project interventions for the ultra-poor in the area.
  • Carry out training and on-the-job mentoring as needed to strengthen the technical skills and capacity of Cooperating Partners and WFP staff in nutrition
  • Support key WFP and Cooperating Partner staff in nutrition programming, documentation and analysis. Provide guidance on the use of monitoring tools, and where necessary review and adapt the tools.
  • Maintain the database of indicators relating to nutrition in WFP projects and ensure quality of data collection, analyse programme data and develop appropriate reports and documentation required to assess achievement of project objectives/targets.
  • Maintain records on programme activities, from formulation stage through completion; make information available for country briefs and other related purposes; ensure project cycle deadlines are met.
  • Monitor, update and track data related to project issues, commodity pipelines and financial allotment status reports, informing the relevant divisions accordingly; ensure accuracy of data related to the above;
  • Analyze and prepare projections for food commodities and non-food items to ensure timely call forward and/or local procurement.
  • Carry out regular field visits to monitor programme activities.
  • Represent WFP at nutrition coordination forums including in the sub office and project area
  • Develop and sustain liaison with key professionals and NGOs engaged in the field of food security and nutrition in the area.
  • Promote collaborative undertakings with GOB through the Upazila health system and other NGOs supporting nutrition programmes and activities in the project area.
  • Maintain communication with the WFP Bangladesh Nutrition Unit on matters pertaining to nutrition.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and briefing materials.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Sub Office/Programme coordinator.

Education and Experiences:
At least a Masters Degree in Nutrition (preferably in public health, community nutrition or food technology); Expertise in the Field of Nutrition and Food Security, with at least 4 years of professional experience preferably with the UN or international organisation. In depth knowledge on the national nutrition situation including policies and programmes.

Language:
Strong verbal and written communication in English and Bangla; excellence in writing technical reports and leading discussions and meetings. Preference will be given to candidates who also possess sound knowledge of Chittagonian dialect and/or Rohingya language.
