Finance and Administrative Officer
 

CONTEXT


Water & Life Bangladesh, an International NGO, created by the French NGO Eau & Vie is active in Bangladesh in the livelihood development of Urban Slum dwellers implementing Firefighting, Hygiene promotion, sanitation and solid waste management activities.

W&L Bangladesh works in close association with the social business company Shobar Jonno Pani Ltd. (SJP), created by Eau & Vie in 2010, specialized in water supply in urban slums of Bangladesh, aiming at creating quality-controlled, piped and metered water supply networks which are financially viable, socially responsible and adapted to the needs of urban poor.
Both W&L and SJP engaged in partnerships with the local communities, authorities, water operator and other development stakeholders.

Water & Life Bangladesh is going to set up another water project in Chittagong, in link with CWASA.

POSITION
Finance and administrative officer - Water programs


Location:
Based in W&L Bangladesh Dhaka


Reporting to:
Under the direct supervision of W&L Finance and Administrative Manager


COORDINATION:
With SJP Program Manager and Branch Manager.


JOB SUMMARY :
The Finance and Administrative officer will be in charge of taking care of the administrative and accounting aspects of the water programs.


SPECIFIC TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative

  • To provide all the administrative documents to the RJSC/ BOI.  
  • To support the Finance and Administrative Manager on the issues linked to VAT and Taxes return.
  • Up-date Fixed asset register.
  • To take care of the salary administration.
  • To maintain advance register.

Accounting

  • To take care for daily payment and receipt of the water program.
  • To prepare monthly salary and other benefit payments and ensure on time transfers.
  • To prepare all debit and credit vouchers.
  • To calculate deductions for VAT and TDS and deposit VAT and TDS to government treasury as per government law.
  • To prepare monthly bank reconciliation statement.
  • To take care of petty cash management.
  • To encode all transactions according to budget lines on tally.    
  • To provide all the necessary exported files to financially monitor the water programs.

Invoice processing

  • To check completeness and correctness of invoices.
  • To ensure all transactions are duly signed and authorized.
  • To prepare monthly salary acknowledgement sheet of individual employee.
  • To take care of the record keeping of the Vouchers of the water Program.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: MBA /Masters in Accounting from any recognized university with minimum 2nd division/ class/ CGPA 2.00 in ail academic results. No 3rd division/ class/ below CGPA 2.00 is acceptable. Candidate with CA CC will get the preference.  

Experience
Minimum 5 years of work experience in similar position.

Skills

The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven skill on Microsoft Office and ICT.
  • Spoken, understanding and reading English
  • Accounting skills
  • Knowledge of Tally software would be a plus
