WaterAid Bangladesh is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation and is looking for a committed, passionate and highly motivated person for the position of Project Manager of one of its projects dealing with ‘Public Toilet’ in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

WaterAid is at an exciting time. With an ambition to bring clean water and safe sanitation to everyone, everywhere by 2030, there’s a need for something big to happen in our world to bring the changes and engagement is key to drive such change! The Project Manager, being one of the members of the Programme Team, will act as Head of Sub-office in Cox’s Bazar and will lead implementation of planned Public Toilets in that locality under a grants support. S/he will be based in Cox’s Bazar and will be responsible for day to day management of sub-office-based staff including an Engineer, Finance Officer and Support staff.

The position’s key responsibilities include to:

  • Lead programme design implementation and financial planning of approved budget as per WaterAid’s Strategy and Guidelines and donor’s requirement
  • Facilitate construction/renovation of public sanitation facilities in Cox’s Bazar and follow up activities on operation and management of public sanitation facilities with relevant authorities.
  • Drive, achieve and maintain agreed quality and standard developing appropriate monitoring measures
  • Take initiatives in publication of relevant communication documents and develop a dissemination plan.
  • Lead the capacity building initiatives within the public toilet management committees and relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate preparation, review and approval of partner organizations annual plan and budget, track budget and expenditure along with implementation and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Maintain strong networking and partnership with relevant authorities in Cox’s Bazar to make the public sanitation facilities sustainable.
  • Facilitate knowledge management process for the project in terms of documentation good practices, learning and cases.
  • Ensure submission of all project reports and documents to the respective stakeholders in timely manner.
  • Represent WaterAid to different national/international audiences, coordinate & facilitate all field visits, meetings with respective partner organizations, donor and other stake holders

Qualifications and Competency Required

Education: Master or equivalent degree in any discipline preferably in Social Science/ Development Studies or BSc in Engineering (preferably in civil) from any recognized University. Higher academic achievements will be given priority.

Experience: At least 08 (eight) years job experience in development field with 04 (four) years in programme/ project management.

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of program implementation and development issues, understanding of Urban context and impact on WASH and relevant technical, social and institutional issues in country. Knowledge on public sanitation will be considered as added advantage.

Professional and Technical Skills

  • Ability to establish good relationship and rapport with stakeholders and partners; allure cooperation from other teams and maintain network outside the organization.
  • Strong Computer skills on MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent presentation, communication and report writing skills both in Bengali & English
  • Excellent facilitation skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Must be a person who is self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and capacity to understand and walk with people from all walks of life.

Reportable to : Head of Programmes
Work station : Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh
Working hours : Full time (05 days a week with minimum 37.5 hours per week)
Salary & benefits

Duration
: Initially for 02 (two) years with a possibility of further extension depending on project extension
