WaterAid Bangladesh, an international NGO, seeks a dynamic, passionate and self-driven applicant to fill in the position of
Project Officer
for one of its major projects under Urban WASH programme
Co-funded by Sida and WaterAid, WASH4UrbanPoor project aims to improve access to safe water and safe sanitation services and promote safe hygienic practices in the selected low income communities in four City Corporations and three Small Towns in Bangladesh. The project will also work with the schools and healthcare centers in the respective project areas to improve their WASH services. In addition, the project will emphasis further development of sustainable public sanitation services and faecal sludge management system in the selected cities and towns. The project will also act on influencing relevant authorities and develop their capacity for effective public services.
Key Responsibilities:
Being a team member s/he will:
- Play an active role to achieve the objectives of the organization in relation to its urban programme
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant agencies, local government institutions and other relevant stakeholders and influence them for pro-poor services and efficient systems
- Support partner NGOs in planning, budgeting and implementation of WASH related hardware and software activities; follow up and monitor the progress and provide necessary guidance to ensure quality of work
- Facilitate process training and capacity building needs, design curriculum, develop relevant materials, organize and facilitate training and workshops on various WASH issues
- Support organizations and partners to identify advocacy issues in relation to the urban programme and help facilitate advocacy events at different levels
- Engage and support in new programme/ project development
- Support organization and partners to integration WASH issues in the health and education systems
- Prepare progress reports, learning and good practice documents and disseminate to relevant and appropriate audiences
Job Specification:
Essential:
- Masters preferably in Public Health/ Development Studies/ Environmental Education/ Urban Planning or any other relevant subject.
- At least 04 (four) years relevant work experience with a reputed national/international NGO/ development sector; this may be relaxed for excellent academic attainment or for graduation/post-graduation from abroad
- Proven track records on programme/ project implementation.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and writing skill in Bangla & English.
- Strong monitoring and reporting skills.
- Adequate Computer skills on MS word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to produce outputs within tight deadlines.
- Must be a team player with mutual trust and understanding in a mixed team
- Ready to undertake extensive field visits outside Dhaka.
Preferable:
- Experience to work in urban sector
- Working experience with international NGO
- Experience to work in WASH sector
