Overview
ThinkWell is an emerging health systems development organization that is currently in a major growth phase. Determined to transcend the status quo, ThinkWell was founded in 2011 to provide bold, creative, and practical solutions to helping low- and middle-income countries achieve universal health coverage. While our core area of work is health financing, we take a “whole-of-systems” approach, specializing in five practice areas that intersect with health financing: governance, human resources for health, private sector, public financial management, and research and evaluation. Current ThinkWell is a partner on the 5-year Bangladesh Advancing Universal Health Coverage (AUHC) project funded by USAID. Within the AUHC project, ThinkWell leads the incubator unit which provides strategic and technical support to the newly established Surjer Hashi (Smiling Sun) Group (SHN), a sustainable pro-poor social enterprise dedicated to delivery high quality low cost primary health care services through a national network of clinics.
The Due Diligence Advisor is a full-time position based in Bangladesh AUHC project offices in Dhaka, Bangladesh and will be responsible for providing expert financial analysis and technical assistance to SHN as well as policy advice on finance and operations manuals, policies, procedures and program guidance. The successful candidate will have strong financial analytical and quantitative skills, market research capacity and a solid understanding of the design, implementation of business systems. The candidate should have an established track record of carrying out analytical work and preparing high-quality technical reports and presentations. This person will also coordinate with other departments in the AUHC Incubator and Operator to coordinate and provide input in other activities. In collaboration and under supervision of Deputy Director, Incubator the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Provide the leadership and guidance in analyses on the Bangladesh health market, support development of SHN capacity to undertake financial forecasting, benefit incidence analysis, and cost-effectiveness;
- Develop and validate data collection instruments such as surveys and semi-structured interview questionnaires;
- Produce high quality written reports and presentations, including technical documents, project status reports, policy briefs, and publications for conferences and journals;
- Create graphics and visualizations of quantitative and qualitative data;
- Support SHN ongoing development of various manuals, policies, procedures, guidelines and program direction in line with business needs.
- Manage and lead due diligence exercises and value based assessments of SHN strategic business goals.
- Provide input to overall project landscape analysis, the creation of business plan, and the management framework for SHN.
- Ensure the systematic use of scientific and technical knowledge in all activity’s design, implementation, and monitoring to advance SHN’s interests in Bangladesh.
- Contribute to the project’s overall learning agenda related to incubation and SHN.
- Respond to ThinkWell Global Headquarters and donor queries at regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
- The candidate will hold an advanced degree in public health, business administration, finance, or another relevant field;
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience;
- Experience in the leveraging of resources from the private and public sector;
- Experience working with donors, governments, or NGOs in international development finance or a related field.
- Creative technical approach that pushes boundaries with an understanding of how to navigate relationships and advocate for bold ideas that challenge conventional wisdom within complex environments;
- Strong quantitative skills, proficiency in Stata or another statistics software is desirable;
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical capabilities;
- Strong and compelling writing, editing, and oral communication skills;
- Ability to deliver effectively in high-pressure situations, with multiple, sometimes competing deadlines;
