Research & Knowledge Management (ResKM) Specialist
Terre des Hommes-Netherlands (TdH-NL) with supports from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dhaka is implementing the project IMAGE (Initiatives for Married Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment) aims to ensure a life with dignity for early married girls in Bangladesh by improving their sexual reproductive health and rights over a period of two years - December 2014 to November 2016. A team of technical experts at the Project Management Unit (PMU) in Dhaka will support implementation of the project to achieve its objective of improving the sexual and reproductive health and rights of 4,500 early-married girls in three northern districts of Bangladesh — Gaibandha, Kurigram and Nilphamari.

Currently, IMAGE has a vacancy for the position Research & Knowledge Management (ResKM) Specialist. Key purpose of the position is to share evidence gained from the project activities as well as research for creating an enabling environment for the empowerment of the early married girls. Competent and confident incumbent who is interested to take challenges of following responsibilities are invited to apply:

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the IMAGE Working Group on ResKM comprising of the ResKM Specialist, Programme Specialist Knowledge Development & Management (KDM), M&E Manager and Communication & Advocacy Specialist. This Working Group will work on collaborative partnership with research and knowledge partner including web-based knowledge platform development and maintenance.
  • Ensure achievement of research & knowledge management objective of IMAGE thorough development & operationalising of a KDM systems for IMAGE.
  • Develop knowledge product and ensure sharing their use for advocacy, lobby & policy influencing.
  • Provide technical support to IMAGE M&E Manager. Establish linkage between IMAGE impact level contributions with broader TdH-NL organizational learning.
  • Ensure TdH-NL and partners’ capacity building of organizational knowledge-base & sustainability of knowledge products.
  • Contribute in developing high quality IEC materials includes search and documentation of “Best Practices” on relevant issues. Facilitate knowledge sharing & promote project staff learning
  • Develop a range of internal and external documents: progress report, research report, monograph etc.
  • Responsible for the budget relating to research & knowledge management and line management of M&E Manager.

Experiences & Competencies:

  • A strong and committed leader with strategic decision-making ability and the potential to develop authority, credibility and visibility throughout the organization;
  • At least 6 years of working experience in relevant field with minimum 2 years leading and managing SRHR related research and knowledge management.
  • At least a Masters-level degree in Anthropology/Social Science/Public Health/Gender Studies or a relevant discipline with solid understanding of the current global and national SRHR policy landscape.
  • Proven experience of development research and technical know-how of different research methodologies with strong analytical capacity. Understanding on Right-based development approach.
  • Experience in advocacy, research and communications including technology (web, social media) based communications and networking
  • Excellent writing skills with a proven ability to write with clarity and succinctness, and very strong interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Strong track record in fostering effective working relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
